2016 XAT Question Paper

2016 XAT Question Paper : An important study aid for individuals preparing for the exam is the XAT Previous Year Question Paper. It is highly recommended that you complete the XAT First Year Question Paper at least for the past five years while preparing for the exam. It is released in exam after exam every year. Overview of XAT

The purpose of the 2016 XAT Question Paper was to assess applicants’ aptitude in a number of areas, including as general knowledge, decision-making, numeric ability, and verbal and logical ability. On January 3, 2016, the exam was administered, upholding its reputation as a thorough and demanding test.

Structure of 2016 XAT Question Paper

The 2016 XAT consisted of two sections:

First Section :

  • 26 questions on verbal and logical ability
  • Making decisions: twenty-three inquiries
  • 29 problems covering quantitative aptitude and data interpretation
  • 170 minutes are allocated in total.

Second Section :

  • 25 questions on general knowledge
  • Writing an Essay: One Subject
  • Thirty-five minutes in total

Key Highlights

Verbal and Logical Ability: The questions in this portion combined vocabulary-based questions, critical reasoning, and reading comprehension. It assessed the candidates’ logical reasoning abilities as well as their comprehension of difficult literature.

Making Decisions: Distinguished by its distinct methodology, this segment showcased diverse commercial and moral predicaments, necessitating candidates to select the most optimal resolutions. It evaluated the ability of applicants to make decisions under duress.

Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation: Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data interpretation were some of the topics studied in this area. It requires rapid problem-solving abilities and a solid understanding of foundational principles.

General Knowledge: Questions on business, economics, current events, and static GK were covered in this part. It was vital to have a broad understanding of both domestic and international events.

Writing an Essay: “Technology and nature are natural enemies” was the 2016 essay topic. Applicants had to express their ideas clearly and concisely within the allotted word count.

Detail Analysis

Verbal and Logical Ability Analysis

The overall level of difficulty in the English component increased from the previous year. 2016 XAT Question Paper: To narrow down the choices and get the answers, one would have to carefully study the questions. There were a few really difficult reading comprehension and critical reasoning questions that could only be answered via elimination. The Para Jumble questions may have been readily answered and were of a moderate difficulty level.

Decision Making and Analytical Reasoning Analysis

The decision-making level was on par with the paper from the previous year. It was a huge comfort that there were no lengthy portions this year. As a result, compared to last year, less time was needed to complete the questions, and a higher cut-off can be anticipated for this segment.

Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation Analysis

Comparatively speaking, this year’s part on quantitative ability and data interpretation was a little simpler. The majority of the 22 QA questions came from the subjects of geometry, algebra, number system, and arithmetic. While the majority of the arithmetic questions were manageable, the geometry and algebraic questions were more challenging. There were two directions-based questions with unclear terminology (Company ABC and XYZ sharing profits).

Two sets of seven questions were included in the Data Interpretation section. A couple of the questions were a little unclear.
In summary, it would have taken 20–25 minutes to tackle 2-4 DI questions.

General Awareness Analysis

Compared to last year, the General Awareness part was somewhat more challenging. There were 25 questions in this section. The majority of the questions consisted of a single statement. There were many right statements in some of the multiple-statement questions. Given that each question asked for knowledge of each assertion on its own, the students may have been perspiring while responding. Static GK (Economy, Geography, Science, Science and Technology) and Current GK (Business economy and miscellaneous) are the main areas from which the questions were asked. There were no questions from the history, sports, or politics sections this year compared to last. The GK portion is generally considered to be “moderate-difficult” in difficulty. A 10–11 question attempt with a 7-8 score can be taken into consideration good.

Essay Writing Analysis

This part of the test consisted of an essay. The topic of the essay was “Technology and Nature are natural enemies”. Like every year, XAT came with a very interesting topic yet again, on which students could ponder and bring out various perspectives. Compared to previous year this topic was easy as in past years XAT had a tendency to give topics that were either abstract or philosophical
