3 Interesting Films to Alleviate our Moods

Watching films can be extremely therapeutic. Cinemas are like a tale that spurs our imagination in visual and auditory forms. It is used as a form of escapism for many, it helps us dive into a world far from our own reality and indulge in it excessively. Films are a great tool used to teach us unforgettable lessons. Movies can actually change the way we think and feel. Sometimes we view certain films that mirror our current situation; therefore, it allows us to resonate with the main characters. Watching films also allows us to feel free emotionally, those who might have trouble expressing themselves on a regular basis may find themselves laughing excessively and crying unapologetically. This could be really cathartic for many people who do not often express themselves openly. Watching films might also allow the person understand inter-personal relations better, and they might also feel more comfortable in expressing themselves.

The art of story-telling contribute huge amount of wisdom and knowledge to us, films are like anecdotes of world literature and history. We learn so much from watching a movie; the movies need not to be very informative in order to impart knowledge, we have a lot to take from the films we view- it offers us a different perspective and helps us make some sense of the world. Often we consider watching films when we are very stressed, it is because movies transport us to a different place and we forget about our problems for a while. We view films depending upon our moods, and it return, it makes everything so much better.

Little Miss Sunshine (2006)-


This film is a hilarious family-drama directed by Jonathon Dayton and Valerie Faris. The center of attention is a seven-year-old girl, named Olive, who wants to appear for a beauty pageant, Little Miss Sunshine. The entire family heads over to California on their ‘Family Bus’ to attend the pageant which Olive wants to participate in. This film slowly turns into an exciting road trip journey of a family dealing with bankruptcy. The characters have a lot to offer to this entertaining movie, the chemistry between them made me feel attached to each and every one of them. It is so interesting to see how the film escalates into something crazier every second, and you literally lose your breath when you witness Olive dancing her heart out in front of a judgmental audience, unapologetically being herself and not caring about what the world thinks of her. This film teaches us to enjoy our life even if everything is falling apart, it also tells us how our closed ones will always support us and encourage us and we need to keep these special bonds really close to us. This movie is hopeful and filled with wonders, it tells us that life is unpredictable and anything can happen any moment- so we need to make the most out of every situation.

The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)-


This masterpiece directed by Gabriele Muccino is a beautiful tale of a man, Chris Gardner, who is extremely broke and is managing to put his life back on track by working hard every day. His wife recently left him making him a single father with a son, his struggles and hardships makes this film extremely inspiring for us viewers. The beauty added to this story is the bond between Chris and his son, it is mesmerizing and extremely emotional. I cried immensely which watching this movie. This movie gives us a sense of hope and inspires us extremely. Watching Chris work hard and ultimately being a financial achiever fills our heart with warmth and inspiration. This story is extremely realistic and straight-forward, it tells us to never give up on our dreams and aspirations. It also adds family value to us, tells us that our family members can do anything for us.

Dead Poets Society (1989)-


This thought provoking and inspirational film is directed by Peter Weir. This film has the capacity to inspire and encourage us in enormous ways. It’s a tale about a teacher, John Keating, who inspired and encouraged boys from the Dead Poets Society to think imaginatively and creatively. John Keating embolden the boys to create well-known art, poetry and stories. This film teaches us the role a teacher could play in shaping our life and molding our minds. John Keating, used his deep love for literature and imparted his knowledge effectively to the young boys. This film has been an educational tool for centuries, the power of this film is boundless and it put emphasis on the value for education.

These films have touched my heart deeply and I can never forget about its huge impact on my consciousness, I am sure they are going to have a similar touch on you. So, sit back, relax and enjoy your favorite cinema.
