Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test, also known as TSTET is a state-level exam conducted by the Department of School Education, Government of Telangana for shortlisting the meritorious candidates who wish to pursue a career as a teacher under the Government of Telangana.
It is one of the mandatory eligibility criteria for grabbing a Teaching post of Primary and Secondary classes under the State Government. Candidates with a B.Ed. can appear for TSTET in order to get teaching jobs at the primary and secondary levels of schooling.
Latest Notification
The official notification for the TS TET exam 2022 has been released on March 25, 2022. The details about dates, applications, eligibility, exam pattern and others are given in it. It is available on the official website.
Registration
Aspirants applying for the Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test 2022 need to apply on the official website of TSTET. The mode of application is online only. Below mentioned is a detailed procedure to fill the TSTET 2022 application form.
How to Fill the Application Form for TSTET 2022?
The steps to fill TSTET application form are:
- Visit the official website of TSTET.
- Click on the link “Apply online”.
- Pay the TSTET registration fees through any online payment gateway.
- Fill in the details like mobile number, name, date of birth, etc.
- Keep the transaction ID that will be received after completion of the application fee payment.
- A provisional registration number and password will be sent to the registered email ID of the candidate. On successful registration, log in using the registration number and password.
- Fill in the application form giving out the personal details, contact details, and educational qualifications.
- Select the option for Paper-I or Paper-II or both.
- Upload the scanned copies of the photograph, signature, and the required documents.
- Submit the application form.
After the successful application process, the candidates should keep a printout of the completed application and their ID number for future references.

Eligibility Criteria
Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test examination comprises of two papers, which tests the eligibility of the candidates for applying in the different teaching posts. Candidates clearing only Paper-I are eligible to apply for teaching posts in the primary classes (1 to 5) and those who can clear Paper-II will be eligible for teaching in secondary sections (6 to 8).
The eligibility criteria subjected by the Telangana Government to appear for TSTET Paper-I and Paper-II are given below.
TSTET Eligibility Criteria for Paper-I
- Candidates having 10+2 or equivalent with an aggregate of 50% mark are eligible for this examination. For OBC/ PwD/ SC/ ST candidates, the minimum marks are 45%.
- Candidates must possess a two-year Diploma in Special Education/ 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education (B El Ed)/ 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education/.
OR - Candidates must have a 10+2 degree from a recognized board or equivalent with an aggregate of 45% marks. For OBC/ PwD/ SC/ ST candidates, it remains to be 45% in the 10+2 examination.
- Candidates should have a two-year Diploma in Special Education/two-year Diploma in Elementary Education/ four-year B El Ed.
TSTET Eligibility Criteria for Paper-II
Those candidates appearing for Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test Paper-II must fulfill the following criteria:
- Candidates must have completed their B. Com/ BA/ BSc with a minimum of 50% in aggregate. For OBC/ PwD/ SC/ ST candidates, an aggregate of 45% marks is essential.
- Candidates should hold a Bachelor of Education specializing in Special Education/ Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.).
OR - Candidates must have qualified BSc./ B. Com/ BA with 50% aggregate marks. OBC/ PwD/ SC/ ST candidates can apply with 40% aggregate marks.
- Aspirants must have a Bachelor of Education specializing in Special Education/ Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.).
OR - Candidates should have cleared four-year BA Ed/ BSc. Ed course with at least 50% aggregate marks. OBC/ PwD/ SC/ ST candidates can apply with 45% aggregate marks.
OR - Candidates must qualify Graduation in Literature/ Bachelor of Oriental Language or its equivalent/ Post-graduation in the language concerned/ Graduation with Language as one of the optional subjects.
- Aspirants must also have cleared B.Ed. or have a Language Pandit Training Certificate. This criterion is required for language teachers only.
- Candidates appearing for the final year Diploma in Elementary Education/ Bachelor of Education examination are also eligible to apply for the Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test examination 2022.
One important point to be noted is that the Degree/ Diploma course of an aspirant in teacher education should be from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). However, for candidates possessing a B.Ed. special education/ diploma in education (special education), the degree should be affiliated by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) only.
Exemption from Appearing in the TSTET Exam
Primary and Secondary teachers who were appointed by a competent Local Authority/ Government before National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) notification are spared from appearing for Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test. However, teachers whose appointments were not approved by competent authority to date and those who are employed in private schools are not excused from applying for TET.
Application Fee
The application fee for the TSTET Exam is INR 300. The candidates need to pay the application fees online through any online payment gateway such as Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking.
Exam Pattern
TSTET 2022 exam consists of two papers in order to recruit the teachers at various levels of schooling:
- TSTET Paper-I (For candidates who wish to become a Primary Teacher, i.e, from Class I-V.)
- TSTET Paper-II (For candidates who wish to become a Secondary Teacher, i.e, Class VI-VIII)
The candidates can appear for either Paper-I or Paper-II or both the papers depending on the eligibility criteria. The question paper is fabricated in a bilingual format consisting of questions in the selected Language I and in English.
