Founded in the year 1971, Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA), Savitribai Phule Pune University has since been a centre of learning and development. It has been constantly metamorphosing itself to be at the forefront of the evolutionary academic entity on one side and a skilled human resource provider to the corporate world on the other.
The Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA), Savitribai Phule Pune University , one of the first Management Institutes in India, is a pioneer by itself in the field of Management Studies.
Founded in the year 1971, PUMBA has since then come a long way. Being the official department for the MBA course in the Savitribai Phule Pune University has been an image booster for PUMBA. It has also helped add tremendously to PUMBA's contribution in the field of management. Situated in the midst of 414 acres of lush green surroundings of the Savitribai Phule Pune University, PUMBA provides just the right atmosphere to develop a perfect manager out of an individual.
Recently the University was granted the highest rating by the National Council of Assessment and Accreditation (Bangalore). The institutional grade 'A' with Five Stars was granted to the Institution making it one of the very few Universities in the country to have been so recognized. The University is also recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as University of Potential Excellence. The Department, being one of the foremost departments of the University, was also subjected to the rigorous investigation carried out for the accreditation and is very glad to have come out successful. With the able and visionary leadership of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. (Dr.) W. N. Gade, we are certain of maintaining and exceeding the present standards.
Department of Management Sciences, also known as Pune University MBA (PUMBA) is accredited with ‘A’ grade with 5 stars by NAAC. It offers BBA and MBA programs, having a total intake capacity of 360 students. Admissions are based on National and State level exams - MHCET, CAT, MAT, XAT, and ATMA.

A B-School is many things to many people. While some join a B-School to get the much coveted MBA degree, others join it with a view of landing dream jobs. Given the state of affairs that exists today, one can’t be blamed for thinking of B-Schools as mere launching pads to get those desired breaks in the corporate world.
We, a team of 15 members help them take their first step in to the corporate world providing them an opportunity to develop a whole new relationship with the corporate world.
We act as an interface between the Industry and the Department furthermore the result of the consistent efforts put in by the students to groom themselves to face the Competition in the Industry and our efforts is proved in the consistent 95% placements achieved over the years. To repeat this performance year after year is not just our goal, it's our passion. It's the one thing that drives us to challenge ourselves. It's what helps us to deliver the best. Tirelessly aiming to achieve what others perceive as impossible.
Our interaction with the industry helps us understand their requirements and expectations, which need to be inculcated in the students to help them in becoming more efficient to face the tough competition in the current recruitment scenario. Our interaction also helps the department in conducting various activities like Seminars, Workshops, Meets, and Management Masterclass etc. in coordination with the other student bodies. This helps the students in keeping themselves updated with the recent happenings in the Industry.
We also help the corporate world to find the right people for the right job. To facilitate this, we keep them updated about the current happenings in the department.
We would like to express our gratitude to the esteemed organizations in various sectors like Manufacturing, Banking, Biotechnology, Automobile, Insurance, Advertising & Media, Hospitality, FMCG, IT & Telecom, Logistics, Pharmaceutical, Retail, and many more for giving our students a stepping stone into the Industry. Courses Available
Hostel For Male
Hostel of Pune University is accessible and the admission is through merit list only. The rent of room is around 6000 for 1 year. It has its own mess and campus has 3-4 more canteens. Also, tiffin services are also there. No problem with food quality as such.
Hostel For Female
Hostel facilities can only be available to students who have scored higher marks as compared to other students. Infrastructure is old but good. Sharing as well as private rooms are available. International as well as national hostel are also available with private room for each student. Hostel annual fees Rs 5800.
