School of Petroleum Management has been one of the top notch colleges in its sector. The Management School was first rooted as the Institute of Petroleum Management, Gandhinagar (IPMG) in 2006 as an aegis of Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI) which was established as a trust and a society by GSPC (Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation), a Government of Gujarat Undertaking. In the following year of 2007, GERMI established Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) and IPMG became the constituent of PDPU, and the name of the college was changed to School of Petroleum Management (SPM). The college dwells with a vision of being an internationally renowned national figure and serve as the torch bearer in quality management education. SPM thrives to provide the most and diversified form of Energy Engineering and make intellects who can fulfill their social obligations by making energy efficient and environmentally viable machines. The institute has its prime objective of acting as the hub of research in the field of energy efficiency for the national and international practitioners alike. In this respect many internationally acclaimed universities have signed treaties of intellectual agreement with School of Petroleum Management and serve as assets in its cause of rising as an energy management superpower.

The summer placement initiatives at SPM for its Summer Internship batches from year 2007 onwards have attracted a good number of companies from energy & infrastructure, oil and gas and other sectors as well. The students have worked on a host of project areas including project financing of refinery, petroleum fiscal systems, business development, retails operations, financial services, HR trainee, copywriting, content development, supply chain strategy for a CNG station, marketing and commercial activities in CGD, market development of lubricants, textile marketing, sales & distribution management, real estate business development, financial feasibility study of power plant, market research, projection of oil and gas production, materials management, I.T. strategy, business analytics, business consultancy, renewable energy project management etc., to mention a few.

Scholarship on merit cum means basis for SPM -PDEU MBA Students for
Academic Session 2020-21
PDEU offers up to 10 scholarships-a 50% Tuition Fee Waiver (effective from 1st Trimester) -on merit cum
means basis, from its own resources based on CAT/XAT/NMAT scores (eligibility for consideration is 85
percentile and above), maximum annual family income (not to exceed INR 10 Lakhs from all sources in
previous financial year) and the awardees maintaining good academic performance (minimum 3.2 GPA
from 1st trimester onwards) in all trimesters. A merit list of all finally admitted candidates eligible for
scholarship based on their CAT/XAT/NMAT scores and those fulfilling maximum family income criterion
shall be prepared for consideration of their cases by a duly appointed committee by PDEU.
