The JOSEPHITE tradition started in Bangalore with the opening of the St. Joseph's European High School by the Paris Foreign Mission Fathers in 1858. In 1884, St. Joseph's College was established. It has grown steadily and today has more than 10,000 students enrolled at the Undergraduate and Post Graduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer, Law and Management disciplines in its independent Colleges namely, St. Joseph's College , St. Joseph's College of Commerce, St. Joseph's Evening College, St. Joseph’s College of Law and St. Joseph's Institute of Management, formerly called as St Joseph’s College of Business Administration. Summer Internship is a part of the course curriculum for the students. IIP is mandatory and the Internship usually starts in the first week of April and ends in the last week of May with duration of 8 weeks, full time. Hostel and mess facilities are pretty decent with twin sharing rooms. Advantage of being located in the heart of Bangalore city hostel has pretty big campus without any traffic noise. Rentals are reasonable too. It was about 5K a month that time.
SJIM has both boys' and girls' hostels. Girls hostel is situated on the campus itself. The hostel has a very good infrastructure and spacious rooms. The meal served by the canteen are good. For each trimester SJIM charges Rs. 30000 which is very much affordable given the area where the college is located.
