Exam pattern WBJEE

The exam pattern for WBJEE is as follows:

Mode of Examination: The exam is conducted in offline mode (pen-and-paper based).
Duration: The duration of the exam is 2 hours for each paper.
Papers: The exam consists of two papers- Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry).
Number of Questions: There are a total of 155 questions, with 75 questions in Mathematics and 80 questions in Physics and Chemistry combined.
Type of Questions: The questions are of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type with four options for each question.
Marking Scheme: Each correct answer carries 1 mark. However, for the Mathematics paper, only the first 60 questions are scored and for the Physics and Chemistry paper, all 80 questions are scored. There is negative marking for incorrect answers. For Category 1 questions, 1/4th of the marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer, and for Category 2 questions, 1/2 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
Language of the Question Paper: The question paper is available in both English and Bengali languages.

It is important to note that there are two categories of questions in the Physics and Chemistry paper – Category 1 and Category 2. Category 1 questions are one-mark questions, and Category 2 questions are two-mark questions. Candidates are advised to carefully read and understand the instructions and exam pattern before attempting the exam.

Eligibility Criteria WBJEE Exam

The eligibility criteria for WBJEE exam are as follows:

Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India.
Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission. There is no upper age limit for appearing in the exam.
Academic Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of the following subjects – Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks in each of the three subjects.
Minimum Marks: Candidates must have secured at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) in the above three subjects taken together.
Domicile: Candidates must be domicile of West Bengal or should have passed their qualifying examination from a recognized institution in West Bengal.
Medical Fitness: Candidates must be medically fit and should submit a certificate of fitness at the time of admission.
Reservation: There is a reservation of seats for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD categories as per the norms of the Government of West Bengal.

Candidates should carefully read and understand the eligibility criteria before filling the application form. In case of any discrepancy or non-fulfillment of eligibility criteria, the application may be rejected.
