Exam Pattern

The GPSC examination is conducted in three phases, namely Preliminary examination, Mains Exam, and Personality Test or Interview. The candidates that qualify for the two stages along with the personal interview will be shortlisted for the vacancies given above. The details of the three stages of the GPSC Engineering Services exam are given below:

GPSC Engineering Services Prelims

The GPSC Engineering Services Prelims will be a multiple-choice questions exam. The candidates who passed the prelims examination will qualify for the Mains exam.

  • The exam will contain the papers for the subject of General Studies, Engineering Aptitude, and Civil Engineering subjects.
  • The exam will consist of a total of 500 marks.
  • The total time will be allotted to a candidate is 5 hours.

GPSC Engineering Services Mains

The GPSC Engineering Services Mains Examination is a descriptive type of paper. The candidates must clear the Mains to appear for the interview.

  • The Mains examination will include the papers of the subject English, Gujarati, and Civil Engineering subjects.
  • The written exam will consist of a total of 800 marks

GPSC Engineering Services Interview

The GPSC Engineering Services 2022 Interview will be conducted for the aspirant who has qualified for the Mains examination. The personality will contain 100 marks. The candidates will become eligible for the post of GPSC Engineering Services after they clear all the phases of the examination.

GPSC Engineering Services Syllabus 2022 for Mains

English Essay A minimum of 250 words and a maximum of 300 words): Choose any one topic from a list of five. (Descriptive/ analytical/ philosophical/ based on Current Affairs.
Letter Writing (in about 150 words) A formal letter expressing one’s opinion about an issue. The issues can deal with daily office matters/ a problem that has occurred in the office/ an opinion in response to one sought by a ranked officer/issues of recent concern etc.
Report Writing (in about 200 words) A speech (in a formal style) that is to be read out in a formal function. This could be an inauguration speech, an educational seminar/conference, a formal ceremony of importance etc.
Formal Speech (in about 150 words): A formal letter expressing one’s opinion about an issue. The issues can deal with daily office matters/ a problem that has occurred in the office/ an opinion in response to one sought by a ranked officer/issues of recent concern etc.
Precis Writing A precis in about 100 words for a 300-word passage
