Eligibilty Criteria

The following are the educational eligibility criteria and age restrictions for the position of engineer at HPCL:

Educational Qualification

  • A 4-year full-time normal engineering course from an AICTE approved/UGC-recognized institution/deemed university must be your educational qualification.
  • If you are a member of the UR/OBC NCL/EWS, you must score at least 60%. If you are a member of the SC/ST/PwBD group, you must have received a minimum of 50% in the applicable engineering stream as outlined below.
  • You are also eligible to apply for HPCL recruitment 2022 if you are in your final year/semester of engineering degree.

Age Limit

  • The candidates applying for the recruitment must be below 25 years of age.
  • The above age must be met as on the last date of the submission of applications.
  • Age relaxation will be given to certain candidates, the details are as follows;

OBC 3 years
SC/ST 5 years
PWD - UR 10 years
PWD - OBC 13 years
PWD - SC/ST 15 years


  • Candidates must be Indian citizens only.
Exam Pattern

The following is the exam pattern for HPCL CBT:

  • The Computer Based Test will consist of two portions and will consist of objective questions with no negative marking.
  • Eligible candidates will be called for Group Task & Personal Interview after a basic review of their application, uploaded documents, and a category- and discipline-specific merit list in the Computer Based Test.
  • For all categories, the minimum qualifying marks in the Domain part are 50%.
  • 60 percent for UR/EWS and 54 percent for SC/ST/PwBD/OBC NC in terms of overall marks (i.e. general aptitude + technical).
  • Candidates must also pass a medical exam that meets the Company's requirements for the position, i.e. Pre-Employment Medical Examination.
