Eligibilty Criteria

It is important to check the eligibility criteria before applying for the HPTET Examination. For different posts filled by the HPTET examination, the eligibility criteria may vary. Here, we have provided complete details about the HPTET Eligibility Criteria.

The Candidates must have the mentioned educational qualifications and must fulfil the age criteria to apply for the HPTET Examination. Some common eligibility criteria to apply for HPTET:

  • At the time of applying for HPTET, candidates' age must be at least 18 years.
  • The candidates must be a citizen of India.
  • It will be convenient for the students who have a domicile certificate from Himachal Pradesh.
  • The students who are in their final year in the respected programs are also eligible to apply for HPTET.

For different posts, the eligibility criteria vary a bit. Given below are the eligibility criteria in respect to different posts:

Posts Eligibility Criteria
Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in Arts Candidates must have a BA/ B.Com degree with a minimum of 50% marks and must have completed 1- year B.Ed or B.Ed. (special education). Or, The candidates must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum score of 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor degree in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in Medical Candidates must have a B.Sc (Medical) degree with a minimum of 50% marks and must have completed 1- year B.Ed or B.Ed. (special education). Or, The candidates must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum score of 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor degree in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) or B.Sc. (Medical Education).
Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in Non-Medical. Candidates must have a B.Sc (Non-Medical) degree with a minimum of 50% marks and must have completed 1- year B.Ed or B.Ed. (special education). Or, The candidates must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum score of 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor degree in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) or B.Sc. (Non-Medical Education)
Language Teacher (Hindi/ Punjabi/ Urdu) Candidates must have completed a BA with Hindi/ Punjabi/ Urdu as an Elective Subject and must have a two years diploma in elementary education or one-year B.Ed/ B.Ed (Special Education). Or, Candidates must have completed MA in Hindi/ Punjabi/ Urdu with a minimum of 50% score from a recognised university and must have completed one-year B.Ed.
Shastri Teacher Candidates must have completed Shastri with a minimum score of 50% marks from any recognised organisation by the Himachal Pradesh government.
Junior Basic Training (JBT) Candidates must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks and must have a JBT certificate from a recognised organisation Or, a two years diploma in Elementary Education (Special Education) Or, a one-year diploma in Elementary Education.

Note- There will be a relaxation of up to 5% of marks in the last qualifying examination and the HPTET qualifying marks, for candidates belonging to OBC/ SC/ ST categories.

Exam Pattern

HPTET Exam 2022 will be conducted in offline mode. 150 objective type questions will be there in the paper. For each correct answer, the candidates will be awarded a +1 mark and there won't be any negative marking for wrong answers.

The duration of the examination is 2 hours and 30 minutes. For all the subjects the exam pattern of HPTET will remain the same but the syllabus will vary.
