Eligibilty Criteria

It is very important to check the eligibility before applying for the NCL Exam 2022. Here, we have provided complete details about the NCL Exam Eligibility Criteria. The candidates must not only fulfil the age criteria but also have the prescribed educational qualifications to apply for the NCL Exam for recruitment to different posts.

NCL Exam Eligibility: Nationality

  • All candidates must be Indian citizens.

NCL Exam Eligibility: Age Limits

  • For Clerk and different Operator, Technician and Supervisor posts, all candidates must be within the age limit of 18 years and 30 years.
  • For various Apprentice posts, all candidates must be between 16 years and 24 years of age.
  • In the case of OBC and SC / ST categories, a relaxation of 3 years and 5 years, respectively are provided.
  • In the case of PwD General, PwD OBC and PwD SC / ST categories, a relaxation period of 10 years, 13 years and 15 years are given.
  • Ex-servicemen (ESM) are also eligible for relaxation in the age limit. The age relaxation given to ESM candidates is equivalent to the actual period served by the candidates in the defence services plus 3 years.
  • In the case of the Departmental candidates, there is no upper age limit.

NCL Exam Eligibility: Educational Qualifications

  • All candidates must have passed their Matric from any NCVT / SCVT recognized by the UP or MP Board.
  • For the Welder (Gas and Electric) post, the candidates who have passed Class 8th from an NCVT / SCVT recognized by the UP or MP Board are also eligible.
  • For different Apprentice and Technician posts, all candidates must be an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) pass in their respective trades from any NCVT / SCVT recognized by the UP or MP Board.
  • For various Supervisor posts, the candidates must also have a Diploma in Electronics or Mechanical Engineering.
Exam Pattern

The final selection of the candidates appearing for the NCL Exam is done based on merit. To be recruited, all candidates applying for different posts need to qualify for both the Written Test as well as the Personal Interview.

The total period of the exam is 90 minutes. However, for Apprentice Posts, the duration of the exam is 120 minutes. The NCL 2022 Exam Pattern for various posts have been listed in the table below:

In addition to the Written Test, the candidates applying for the post of Dragline Operators need to appear for an Additional Technical Test (ATT) of 50 marks. The total period of this exam is 60 minutes.
