The Institute was later declared as an Institution of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology amendment Act, in 1963”and after that it was renamed as “INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY DELHI”. It is ranked as 182^nd in world ranking.

Now the current situation about (IITD) tells us that. The union minister HRD felicitates IITD scientists for developing prob-free COVID-19 detection essay. IITD has become the first academic  institute to develop a COVID-19 testing method.  It is planning to give non-exclusive open licence to companies for commercialising the test but with a price rider. IIT Delhi’s low-cost COVID-19 testing kit will be produced by a Bengaluru-based biotechnology firm and is expected to be available by the first week of June it must be a great news for all of us that IITD is helping us in a better way.
