Admission Open 2023
Apart from the National Institute of Fashion Design, the National Institute of Design (NID) is one of India's major design institutions (NIFT). NID offers different areas under design studies, whereas NIFT concentrates on fashion-related design. As a result, there is a great demand for NID entrance, and getting into the school without adequate help can be difficult. This article contains all you need to know about NID.
Latest Notification
From the 4th week of September 2025, admission application forms for the academic year 2024-2025 were accessible at http://admissions.nid.edu October 2024 will be the deadline for submitting online application forms. The NID application forms can be edited until the second week of November 2024. The deadline for receiving printed application forms is the third week of December 2024. Exam will be held the first week of January 2025. The outcome will be announced on (Tentatively 3rd week of February 2025). The official website will provide the NID DAT results.

The following is the procedure for applying to NID:
- Sign up at http://admissions.nid.edu.
- Fill in the required information on the online form and click’save & proceed.’
- Please upload the necessary documentation.
- Select a payment method and complete the transaction.
- Make a note of the application form number and print it.
- Send the demand draught to the address provided (if using demand draft)

Eligibility Criteria for NID
To be admitted to NID, an applicant must meet the following requirements:
Age limit-
General and international applicants must be 20 years old, whereas SC/ST/ OBC-NCL and PwD applicants must be 23 and 25 years old, respectively. The upper age limit for M. Des applicants is 30 for general and international students, 33 and 35 for SC/ST/OBC-NCL and PwD applicants, respectively.
Educational qualifications
Des applicants must have completed 12th grade or an equivalent examination, while M. Des candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree (any discipline) from a recognized university.

Application fee payment
Applicants to NID have two options for paying their application fee: online (debit/credit cards) or by Demand Draft. The fee is Rs. 2000 for general and OBC-NCL applicants, Rs. 1000 for SC/ST/PwD applicants, and Rs. 3000 for international applicants. Students who wish to pay by demand draught may make their check payable to the ‘All India Management Association’ in New Delhi.

According to the announcement, the NID exam has two stages: prelims and mains for B.Des, GDPD, and M.Des. NID may vary the schedules or the structure of the paper pattern based on the current pandemic condition.
Counselling
Admissions Counseling at NID
The NID admissions process involves three steps of counselling:
Online permission
Applicants who pass the design aptitude test (DAT), studio test, and interview receive an online consent form, which they must submit within the deadline to continue the admission process. The initial merit list is generated based on the candidates’ online permission forms.
Documents are being uploaded for verification.
Uploading authentic copies of necessary documents such as 10th and 12th grade mark sheets, birth certificates, and degree certificates (for M. Des.) for verification is the next step in NID admission counselling.
Offer of provisional admission
Candidates with verified information are offered a provisional admission offer that contains the following information:
- Regulations and rules
- Format of a physical fitness certificate
- Format of the undertaking to be submitted (only if the final results of the 12th class or bachelor’s degree have not been revealed)
- Hostel application form with indemnity bond and rules and regulations
