About

BHU PET is a university-level Post Graduation Entrance Exam for Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It is conducted to provide admission to General, Professional, Special, and Vocational Courses. The exam is the first to be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). Prior to 2021, BHU PET was conducted by Banaras Hindu University itself. All the information related to Exam is available on NTA’s official website for BHU PET (bhuet.nta.nic.in). The university offers postgraduate programs in the following streams: arts, commerce, social sciences, agriculture, and environment.

Latest Notification

BHU PET 2022 Exam is scheduled to be held in the month of April-May, 2022. The counselling process will be held in online mode, selected candidates will be informed by the call letter sent by the admission authority. The number of call letters will approximately be two-four times more than the number of seats available in the course. Only the candidates whose names are mentioned on the merit list can participate in the counselling process.

Registration

HU PET 2022 Application Form will be released online. Candidates can fill the application form for BHU PET 2022 through official website. No other mode of the application except through the official website is available. Candidates may follow these steps to apply for BHU PET 2022:

Go to the official website of Banaras Hindu University for application forms and admissions.
Now click on apply for admission.
There will be options for 4 kinds of tests, click on BHU PET 2022 online application.
A new web page for BHU PET will open.
From this page, candidate needs to click on ‘Register Yourself’ to start filling the application form.
Enter the details for registration, after entering the details, click on ‘Sign Up.’
After this a confirmation message will be sent on Email ID or Mobile number, validate your registration through this message.
Start filling the form and select the type of course for which you want to appear.
Enter all the details asked in the application form and upload the required documents, after filling the details, candidates need to click on ‘Confirm’ button.
After clicking on the confirm button, the payments page will open.
Payment can be made through Net Banking, Credit or Debit card or Challan of HDFC Bank.
Candidates should know that fee for applying for BHU PET 2022 is SC/ST/PC category students is INR 250 and for all other types of students is INR 500.
Candidates who are applying for more than one course, for them the application fee for subsequent forms after the first form will be charged at concessional rates – INR 100 for SC/ST/PC students and INR 200 for all other.
After making the payment, the application form is complete.

BHU PET 2022 Syllabus includes objective type questions based on the concerned subject of the qualifying exam.

For M.A in Economics/History/Political Science/Sociology/Psychology	Multiple-choice questions will be based on Social Sciences such as Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Rural Development, Management, Biology and Cultural Studies.
For M. Com	Questions based on the Qualifying Examination.
For M.Sc. in Physics/Chemistry/Geology/ Zoology/Botany/Computer Sciences/Biochemistry/Geophysics	Multiple-choice questions on Physics, Mathematics, Geophysics, Biology, Chemistry and based on the concerned subject.

Eligibility Criteria

The minimum eligibility requirement for BHU PET 2022 is Bachelor’s Degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% aggregate marks. The other BHU PET 2022 eligibility criteria are as follows:

There is no upper age or lower age limit for application.
Applicants must be an Indian National.
Candidates seeking admission to M.A course in Language must have studied the concerned Language at B.A. level
No minimum eligibility marks will be applicable for SC/ST candidates.
For OBC and Physically Challenged category, a minimum of 45 % marks is required in the Degree examination.

Counselling

BHU PET 2022 will be conducted in three steps:

Online Preference Entry
Activity on the day of Counselling
Activity on Next day of Counselling Date

Selection of candidates will be done by merit listing. After the declaration of Cut Off and Merit List, selected applicants will be able to download the ‘Call letter’. Online Preference Entry should be submitted where the candidate can select their choice course, location and seat type.

Exam Pattern

Aspirants should observe the BHU PET 2022 Exam Pattern before preparing for the exam.

The exam will consist of total 120 multiple-choice questions.
The duration of the examination will be 120 minutes. The mode of exam is Offline (pen and paper based)
The medium of the exam is English and Hindi and Language concerned for Linguistic subjects. All Papers will be in English and Hindi except for Sanskrit
The multiple-choice questions for various courses will be based on the concerned subject of the qualification degree
For all the courses, the questions will include questions to check candidate’s Proficiency in English language, Analytical Abilities, General Awareness, Logical Quantitative and Aptitude
All the questions will be based on the concerned subjects of the qualifying examination such as Degree, Diploma of the concerned course.
