About
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is a central university located in New Delhi, India. It was founded in 1920 by a group of Muslim leaders, including Maulana Mahmud Hasan, Mohammad Ali Jauhar, and Hakim Ajmal Khan. The university was conceived as a national institution that would offer progressive education and an emphasis on Indian nationalism to students from all communities, particularly Muslims.
JMI has nine faculties: Education, Humanities and Languages, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Law, Management Studies, Mass Communication and Journalism, Islamic Studies, and Visual Arts.
