Eligibilty Criteria

NLU, Delhi has defined an eligibility criterion for all the law aspirants that must be fulfilled to register for the All India Law Entrance Test.

All the courses have their different sets of Eligibility Criteria required for the candidates to appear in the examination. Listed below are the same:
<h4AILET for B.A.LLB. (Hons)

  1. The candidate should have at least 55% aggregate in the exam from a recognized board.
  2. The candidate should acquire a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination.
  3. Candidates who are currently perusing can also apply for the examination.

AILET for LL.M. Course

  1. The candidate is required to have passed LL.B. or any other equivalent degree.
  2. The candidate needs to attain 55% marks as aggregate and 50% marks for those who belong to ST, SC category.
  3. The candidates who are pursuing LL.B. can also apply for the examination.

AILET for Ph.D. Courses

  1. The candidate should hold a master's degree from any recognized university.
  2. The candidate needs to acquire a minimum of 55% marks as aggregate and 50% for those who belong to the reserved category.
Exam Pattern

National Law University has designed different exam patterns for every AILET Paper: B.A.LLB, LLM, and Ph.D. The pattern for AILET 2022 is mentioned below:

  1. Exam Mode: The examination will be organized via offline mode.
  2. Medium: The question paper will be in English medium.
  3. Time Duration: Candidates will get 1 hour 30 minutes to solve the question paper.
  4. Questions Type: The Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) will be asked in the question paper. AILET 2022 LLM Exam will have 100 multiple-choice questions in Section 1 and 2 descriptive questions in Section 2 of the exam.
  5. Total Questions: There will be a total of 150 questions in the examination.
  6. Marking Scheme: Each correct answer will consist of 1 mark.
  7. Negative marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Compared to UG and PG courses, the exam pattern for Ph.D. entrance in NLU, Delhi is quite different. It consists of 2 sections; the first level will be an objective test based on Research Methodology and Legal Aptitude sections.

The entrance test will be qualifying in nature, candidates clearing the minimum required AILET Cut off will be required to submit their Research Proposal on the desired topic.


The student should go through certain important topics for each section to get a proper understanding of the core of the subject. Listed below are the subjects and the syllabus the candidates need to study before appearing for AILET Exam:

AILET 2022 B.A LLB Syllabus

English, Legal Awareness, Reasoning, Elementary Mathematics along General Knowledge comprise the undergraduate entrance Syllabus.

  1. AILET English: Reading Comprehension passages are based on Law themes along with grammar, vocabulary, and verbal ability questions.
  2. AILET Logical Reasoning: Analytically comprehending situations and conclusions that are logically driven comprise this section. As per the modifications made to BA LLB AILET Syllabus, legal questions that require no prior knowledge of legal questions will be asked.
  3. AILET General Knowledge: From static GK to current affairs, every aspect is covered up in this section.

AILET 2022 BA LLB Syllabus: Modifications Made

Given below are the modification made to AILET 2022 BA LLB Course:

  • Instead of four sections, AILET 2022 BA LLB will have 3 sections. However, no changes have been made to the total number of questions.
  • AILET 2022 Logical Reasoning section will carry 50% weightage and a total of 150 questions will be asked.
  • AILET 2022 Logical Reasoning section will include questions of legal principle, that will require no prior knowledge of law.
  • The official AILET 2022 Results will be declared on the university website, i.e. nludelhi.ac.in. The dates for the results are different for the specified courses, which will be announced after the exam is conducted.
  • The results are available in the online mode in PDF format. The University specifically issues the result on the different categories of applicants. AILET Cut Off list is also announced along with the results.
