Eligibilty Criteria

Before applying for online application, Candidates are advised to go through the proper eligibility criteria. BSF reserves the right to cancel the candidature of any candidate at any stage of the selection process if he/she is found not qualifying any of the prescribed eligibility criteria.

BSF Recruitment Educational Qualifications 2022

(i) Candidates must have matriculation or equivalent from a recognized University or Board with Two years’ work experience in respective trades;


(ii) One-year certificate course from Industrial Training Institute/ Vocational Institute with at least one year experience in the trade;


(iii) Two years Diploma from Industrial Training Institute in the trade or similar trade.

BSF Recruitment Age Limit 2022

The age limit should be 18 to years as of 01.08.2021. Relaxation in respect of applicants for the SC/ST/OBC categories and other special categories of employees in compliance with Central Govt. orders given from time to time.

Candidates of Jammu & Kashmir who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of J&K during the period from 1st Jan 1980 to 31st Dec 1989 should produce the certificate to the effect from either the District Magistrate within whose jurisdiction he/she had ordinarily resided or from any other authority designated on his behalf by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. Up to 5 years in the upper age limit. (SC/ST/OBC relaxation as per Government instructions will be in addition).
Children and dependent family members of victims KILLED in the 1984 riots and communal riots of 2002 in Gujarat would be eligible for upper age relaxation in this category. The applicant should produce a certificate to that effect from the concerned District Collector/ District Magistrate where the victim was killed. Up to 5 years in the upper age limit. (SC/ST/OBC relaxation as per Government instructions will be in addition).

BSF Recruitment Physical Standards 2022

The physical standards that need to be there for male and female candidates are listed below.

BSF Recruitment Medical Standards 2022

The medical standards are provided below in the table:

Ear Candidate should not have any degree of deafness
Nose Candidate should not have any chronic breathing issues
Neck Candidate should not have swelling of the neck or vertebrae issues
Venereal Disease or Skin disease Candidate should have no signs of any Vulnerable disease or any skin disease

The exam pattern is given below:

BSF Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test 2022

At the very beginning of the recruitment process, candidates will be asked to go through the height bar, and thereby, candidates with lesser height will get eliminated and will not be allowed to participate in further process of recruitment. Those candidates who qualify for the height bar will be subject to the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) which will be as under

BSF Trade Test 2022

The candidates who qualify in the PST, PET & Documentation will be put through the respective Trade Test. Each candidate will be allowed to appear for one trade test only. The Trade Test will be qualifying in nature and it will not carry any marks. The requisite skill/qualification for each trade are as follows:

Barber Handling of tools, haircutting, and shaving
Sweeper Sweeping, cleaning of toilets and bathroom, etc
Carpenter Handling tools, cutting of wood, fitting, polishing, and finishing of materials.
Painter Knowledge of colors, paints, shades, painting of sign Boards, painting and drawing/knowledge of spray Painting for motor vehicles.
Electrician Knowledge of AC & DC, new electric fitting, Rectification of faults.
Draftsman Knowledge of drawing materials, papers enlargement, sketching and plan drawing, etc.
Waiter Hygiene/sanitation, servicing of foods, and allied matters.
Mail Plantations, maintenance of plants, knowledge of Seeds and their sewing seasons, fertilizer and manures, etc

BSF Written Examination 2022

Successful candidates in the first phase of the examination, namely PST, PET, Documentation, and Trade Test, will be invited to appear in the second phase of the examination, comprising the Written Examination, which will be conveyed to the candidates by E-Mail address/ SMS for call letters online.

BSF Medical Examination

The candidates who qualify for all the above stages i.e. PST, PET, Documentation, Trade Test and Written Test will be put through Detailed Medical Examination (DME) which will be carried out by the Medical Board of Officers to assess their physical & medical fitness.
