Eligibilty Criteria

Students can fill out the application form of SOF IMO through their school or as an individual if their school is unable to participate. Students from classes 1 to 12 can get registered for the SOF IMO exam. The SOF IMO exam is divided into two levels, and the eligibility criteria for both levels are different from each other.

IMO Level 1 Eligibility Criteria

For the first level IMO Olympiad exam, the students from classes 1 to 12 can participate in the SOF IMO Olympiad examination. Eligibility criteria for the students are given below.

  • The school of the student must be affiliated with an Indian-recognized education board.
  • Students can give an IMO exam once a year.
  • For registration through school, the school must be registered through the SOF foundation to register their students for the Olympiad exam.

IMO Level 2 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria for students to appear for the SOF IMO level 2 exam are given below.

  • Only the students from classes 3 to 12 can participate in the SOF IMO level 2 examination.
  • The top 5% of candidates, class-wise, who appeared in the 1st level exam will be eligible for level 2 exams.
  • Topper of the class, where at least there are ten students from a class appeared for the exam, students with 50% qualifying marks are eligible for level 2 exams.
Exam Pattern

The International Mathematics Olympiad is conducted under two levels where the first level of the test is organized in the respective schools during school hours. The level 1 exam is in 60 minutes duration comprising 35 objective-type questions for class 1 to class 4 and 50 objective-type questions for class 5 to class 12. The SOF IMO level 2 exam will be a national level exam conducted by SOF for students who qualify for the level 1 exam.
