Eligibilty Criteria

Applicants for the exam must satisfy the below-mentioned criteria to be eligible for the exam and ultimately, for the job.

Age Limit
  • The age of the applicant should be above 21 years and below 32 years as of January 1, 2022 or at the time of registration.
  • The upper age limit for applicants belonging to the SC, ST, SEBC, Women, and Ex-servicemen categories is relaxed by 5 years.
  • For applicants belonging to the PwD category, the upper age limit is relaxed by 10 years.
  • Age relaxation of 5 years is provided to doctors who are already serving as Medical Officers in the State Government.
Educational Qualifications
  • Must have completed an M.B.B.S or equivalent degree from a Medical Institute recognized by the Medical Council of India.
  • A registration certificate validated as per Odisha Medical Registration Act, 1961 is required.
  • Candidates with a medical degree from foreign universities must produce a conversion certificate that is recognized by the Medical Council of India.
Domicile Status
  • The candidate must belong to the state of Odisha and must be well versed in Odia language.
  • The candidate must possess a certificate to validate his/her knowledge of Odia.
  • If a candidate does not have such a certificate, then it is mandatory for him/her to clear the Odia language exam conducted by the Board of Secondary Education within 2 years of joining.
  • If a candidate is unable to clear the exam, he/she will not receive expected increments in the future and will also be ineligible for promotions to senior positions.

Other Factors
  • The candidate should be physically and mentally sound and should not have any defects which may become a hindrance in their work.
  • The candidate should have a clear record implying that he/she should not have faced any debarment from appearing in any exam by the OPSC, UPSC, or the State Government.
  • The candidate must clear the medical examination conducted by the medical board.
  • The candidate must be able to produce all the requisite legal documents.
