Eligibilty Criteria

Before applying for different posts for PSPCL, candidates must check the eligibility criteria. The PSPCL Eligibility Criteria is released along with the official notification for the posts on the official website. For multiple posts, here are the eligibility criteria:

PSPCL Eligibility: Educational Qualification

Posts-wise eligibility criteria for different types of vacancies are listed below:

  • Regular B.Com with minimum 60% Marks

Non-Technical: Clerk (CLK) [Post Code: 12]
  1. Bachelor’s degree from a recognised University or Institution.
  2. Possess at least 120 hours course related to use of Personal Computer,

OR Computer Information Technology course equivalent to DOEACC ‘O’ level certificate by Govt. of India.

  1. Must have studied Punjabi up to matric (10th) standard.
  2. The candidate will have to pass the English and Punjabi typing test as per PSPCL standards within the probation period.
Technical: Junior Engineer/ Electrical [Post Code: 21]
  • Regular 3 or 4 years Diploma in Electrical/ Electrical and Electronics/ Computer Science/ IT Engineering with minimum 60% marks


  • Regular BE/ B.Tech in Electrical/ Electrical and ElectronicsEngineering or B.Sc Computer Science
  • IT Engineering with at least 50 % of aggregate marks.


  • AMIE in Electrical/Electrical and Electronics/ Computer Science/IT Engineering with 50% minimum marks from Institution of Engineers(India) Calcutta.
Technical: Assistant Lineman (ALM) [Post Code: 22]
  • Matriculation (class 10th|) or equivalent.
  • National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in Lineman Trade.
Technical: Assistant Sub-Station Attendant (ASSA) [Post Code: 22]
  • The candidates should have done a full-time course in ITI/Electrical/Electrician/Wireman with a minimum of 60% marks with 2 years apprenticeship experience in PSEB


  • Full time regular diploma in Electrical Engineering/ Electronics & Communication/ Instrumentation & Process Control with 60% marks.

PSPCL Age Criteria

The crucial date for assessing the age of candidates is January 1, 2022. Minimum age limit 18 years and upper age limit 37 years.

PSPCL also relaxes age criteria for applicants belonging to certain categories of candidates. The age relaxation is as per the instructions of the Government of Punjab.

SC, ST and OBC 5 Years of relaxation from the prescribed upper age limit
Ex-Servicemen Ex-servicemen of Punjab Domicile can deduct the period of their service in the Armed Forces of Union from their actual age. If the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit prescribed for direct appointment by more than three years, they will be considered eligible in age criteria.
Physically Handicapped 10 Years of relaxation from the prescribed upper age limit.
Widows 40 Years
Wives serving military personnel and wives of military personnel disabled during the service 40 Years
Women who receive maintenance payments from their husbands by the order of Civil or Criminal courts. 40 Years
Exam Pattern

PSPCL exam 2022 will be conducted in 3 phases viz.

  1. Phase-I (Preliminary Examination)
  2. Phase-II (Mains Examination)
  3. Document Verification (DV)

The Phase-I and Phase-II examination are of 100 marks. There are a total of 100 questions and each question carries 1 mark. There is a negative 0.25 mark for the wrong answer.

PSPCL Exam Pattern 2022 for the Post of JE/ Electrical, ALM, and ASSA

Online examination for the post of Assistant Lineman and Assistant Sub-Station Attendant will be conducted in one phase only. Online examination for the post of Junior Engineer will be conducted in two phases.

Phase-I and Phase-II have similar question patterns. They are as follows:

PSPCL Exam Pattern for the Post of Clerk

Online examination for the post of Clerk will be conducted in two phases. Both Phase-I and Phase-II will have similar question patterns. They are as follows:
