Eligibilty Criteria

To become eligible for the WB police SI Jobs candidates have to be eligible for the posts by qualifying these criteria-

Education Qualifications

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognized University or its equivalent on or before January 2022.


Candidates must be Indian citizens and have a Domicile of WB state.

Age Limit

Candidates must have ages between 20 years and below 27 years on 1st January 2022 to become eligible for the WB Police SI Jobs.

There would be some relaxation for the upper age limit for the reserved category candidates-

  • WB police department Candidates: 8 years
  • WB Police department OBC Candidates: 11 years
  • WB Police department SC/ST Candidates: 13 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • SC/ST: 5 years


  • Candidates must be able to speak, understand and write the Bengali language( except for the permanent residents of hill subdivisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts.
  • Physically handicapped students are not able to apply for these vacancies.
Exam Pattern

WB Police SI Recruitment department carries out different exams and tests for the posts of Sub-inspector and Lady Sub-inspector these are-

  • Preliminary exams (200 marks)
  • Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Qualifying
  • Final Combined Competitive exams (200 marks)
  • Personality test (30 marks)
  • Verification of Character antecedents
  • Medical exams
  • Appointment

Candidates have to qualify for all exams with maximum marks to be eligible for the different police SI recruitment vacancies in West Bengal.

WB Police SI Preliminary Exam pattern

The weightage of all the subjects asked in preliminary exams are-
