Alakh Prakash Goyal Shimla University is a private university established in 2012 under the Himachal Pradesh State Act no 20 of 2013 with a right to confer Degrees as per section 2f of Universities Grants Commission (UGC) Act 1956. The university is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of Himachal Pradesh and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It is also known as AP Goyal Shimla University. The campus of the university is spread over an area of 42 acres. The varsity has 114 faculty members in total. As per the official website, the mission of the university is to impart vibrant and comprehensive education to students enabling them to be catalysts of change.
The varsity offers courses at four levels: diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral. AP Goyal Shimla University conducts APGSU Aptitude Test for admission to diploma, UG and PG courses . Candidates who have qualified state level or national level entrance examination are also required to appear for the APGSU Aptitude Test. AP Goyal Shimla University provides a large number of scholarships to its students. The students of the university are placed in various national and international reputed companies every year. To provide a comfortable environment to the students, Alakh Prakash Goyal Shimla University has modern and upgraded facilities.
