BMS College of Engineering is the first private sector initiative in engineering education in India. Over the past 74 years of its illustrious existence, the institution has produced more than 40,000 engineers/leaders who have enriched the world through their immense contributions for mankind. Started with only 03 undergraduate courses, BMSCE today offers 13 Undergraduate & 16 Postgraduate courses both in conventional and emerging areas. 14 of its Departments are recognized as Research Centers offering PhD/M.Sc (Engineering by Research) degrees in Science, Engineering and Management.
The College has been effectively practicing outcome based education. The College has one of the largest student populations amongst engineering colleges in Karnataka. Currently about 5000 students are pursuing their higher studies in BMSCE. More than 350 research scholars are pursuing their PhD Degree in BMSCE Research Centres. BMSCE is one of the most preferred destinations for the students from across the country which could be attributed to the quality education, infrastructure, healthy teaching-learning practices as well as producing industry ready students.

He was recognized with the Padmashree from Government of India in 1991, in recognition of his significant contribution to India’s Industrial Development. - Flight Lieutenant Bhawana Kanth -2014 Medical Electronics
Bhawana Kanth is one of the first female fighter pilots of India. She was declared as the first combat pilot along with two of her cohort, Mohana Singh, and Avani Chaturvedi. The trio was inducted into the Indian Air Force fighter squadron in June 2016. They were formally commissioned by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. After the government of India decided to open the fighter stream in India Air Force for women on an experimental basis, these three women were the first to be selected for the program.In May 2019, she became the first female fighter pilot in India to qualify to undertake combat missions - Vishwas M - EEE 2024

The B.M.S. Educational Trust (BMSET) is a prestigious institution which founded and manages the top class colleges viz., B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE) , BMS Institute of Technology & Management, BMS College of Law, BMS College for women and others institutions.
B.M.S. Educational Trust Hostels are part of BMSET and BMSET Hostels in the campus of B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE) provide accommodation to the students wishing to reside in the hostels. BMSET Hostels gives a distinct advantage of befriending with students from across the globe and expose them different religions, languages and customs of countries. Additionally, living as a community in the hostel will lead to all-round development of personality of a hostelite and will definitely go a long way in fostering world-class citizens.
Hostels are independent units in respects to its internal administration under the overall supervision of council of wardens and the hostel management. The hostels are located in the southern side and adjacent to the college campus and have a separate hostel office and mess within the hostel premises.
The mess has a centralized modern kitchen and a separate dining hall for boys and girls. General menus for each month is are decided by the hostelite representatives selected by the hostels. Special menus are introduced and served on all important festivals.

The area consists of several buildings - old and modern, with well laid roads, play grounds and lawns. Apart from this, the hostel complex on the southern side of the college campus consists various hostel blocks. The BMSET Hostel is a place to grow and evolve one’s personality. Academics indeed is one of the area of primary concern of our management as we are among the pioneers of education in our Country. One of the salient features of the Hostel is its care for students.
