Presidency University 2023 Kolkata was established in 1817. The University initially started functioning as the Hindoo College which later got changed into Presidency college of Bengal in 1855. The college got the status of an University and got transformed its name into Presidency University on 7th July, 2010. The University is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The college also conducts entrance examinations of its own namely Presidency University Bachelor Degree Entrance Test (PUBDET) to offer admissions to undergraduate programmes and Presidency University Master Degree Entrance Test (PUMDET) to offer admissions to postgraduate programmes.

Scholarship 1
Shri Dinesh Chandra Basu Memorial Scholarship -
Eligibility- Required minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade (in case of the Arts subjects) and minimum 70% marks or equivalent grade (in case of the Science Subjects) in the last public examination (Higher Secondary or equivalent).
Only BPL/ANTODAYA card holder will be eligible for applying to this scholarship. Original BPL/ ANTODAYA card is required to be produced at the time of submission of form. A photocopy of BPL/ ANTODAYA card duly attested by a Gazetted Officer/ HOD/Academic Dean is required to be submitted along with the application.

Meritorious students of our University Departments for different types of benefits and scholarships -
Eligibility criteria :
1. Family Income should not exceed Rs.4000/- per month (family income certificate issued by BDO or any equivalent competent Group-A Govt. Officer or Secretary/Executive Officer of Municipality etc is required to be produced along with application).
2. Minimum 65% marks or a GPA of 7.0 or above is required in the last qualifying or semester (last two) exam, as the case may be. Attested copy of mark sheet is required to be duly submitted along with the application form.
3. Only tuition fees will be waived and all other fees are required to be paid by the students as per the norms of the University.

As students’ progress through semesters & academics, apart from the departmental
regular skill building initiatives like projects, certifications, internships etc., students are also trained on various analytical and soft skill aspects such as Aptitude (Quant, Logical and verbal), Grooming, Communication Skills etc. for about 150 hrs. Further, students are trained on functional skills like coding and also placement specific skills such as resume writing, group discussion and personal interview skills. A dedicated learning and development team of 18 trainers execute this student shaping exercise along with the support from hired professional organisations

To augment the placements, University has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Capgemini opening up three state of the art Centres of Excellence in the domains of Full Stack Development, VLSI, and Product Life Cycle management. Similarly, University has signed MoU with Tech Mahindra for Java Full Stack and .Net Full Stack Technologies. University is in discussion with few more organisations in establishing Centres of Excellence in other domains.
