The University of Jammu, accredited as 'A+' Grade University by National Assessment & Accreditation Council of India came into existence in 1969 vide Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969 following bifurcation of the erstwhile University of Jammu and Kashmir. The chief objective of Placement Cell is to equip students with world class training facilities and provide them with best opportunities available in the market. Among the various outcomes of the teaching learning process, Employability and Job Placement is one of most critical defining outcome, especially in the professional departments. To strengthen this, the University has an active Placement Cell which looks into the Training and Placement for its students from all streams. The scope of work of Placement Cell extends from organizing workshops to providing internships to students in various organizations and preparing students for the final Placements. Placements are coordinated by the Placement Cell under the supervision of an experienced team, through a process that optimizes the interests of both the students and the organisations.

The International Centre shall also act as a nodal centre at University of Jammu for offering Skill Development Programs in collaboration with Global Village Foundation, Concentrix Ltd and NASSCOM Foundation. The underlying objective of the Skill Development Initiative is to provide training to create a scalable and sustainable ecosystem that brings together Government, Corporate and Academia. As a part of CSR initiative undertaken by the Concentrix Ltd and NASSCOM Foundation, 2-Month Certificate Programme on Skill Development was launched at two nodal centres namely ICccR & HRM and Kathua Campus, the University of Jammu that aims to develop the employability skills of youth across the region.

Scholarship 1
Merit for Postgraduate:
1. There shall be two scholarships for each class of the value shown against each :-
a) one merit scholarship @ Rs. 200/- p.m.
b) one merit-cum-means scholarship @ Rs. 200/- p.m.
2. a) First and Second Semester Class
For one year, from the date of admission to the First Semester Class to the last date of the 2nd Semester examination.
b) 3rd and 4th Semester Class
For one year, from the date of admission to the 3rd Semester Class to the last date of the 4th Semester examination.
Scholarship 2
Research Scholarships:
Subject to availability of funds, six research scholarships per year each post-graduate course in a department which has been authorized to enroll scholars for carrying research leading to the award of Ph.D. degree.
The value of each scholarship shall be Rs. 5000/- per month. Each scholarship shall be tenable for a period of three years from the date the scholar starts research work in a Department of the University (including probationary training period). In addition, each scholarship shall carry an annual grant of Rs. 3,500/- for Sciences and Rs. 2,000/- for Humanities including Social Sciences for meeting authorized contingent expenditure connected with the research work in accordance with the regulations prescribed on this behalf.
Value of each Research Scholarship - Rs. 5000/- per month
Contingent Grant
i) For Science Subject - Rs. 1500/- p.a.
ii) For Humanities including Social Science Subjects - Rs. 1000/- p.a.
The Central Library of the University has a collection of nearly 4,61,149 volumes and 250 current periodicals with back numbers. The Library also provides the access to the different online journals only in the campus. The Library possesses facilities like photocopiers, LCD projectors, INFLIBNET, CD-ROM databases and inter-connected computer terminals at selected sites. It has Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders. The Library has three main reading halls and additional reading areas.
Shuttle Service
The University/Hostels have matador/Mini-Bus facility at a stone's throw distance from each hostel for visiting any part of the city. The Bus Stand, Railway Station, and Airport are connected with public transport from each hostel of the University.

Hostel For Male
University of Jammu has set up five hostels, out of which three are for boys and two for girls. Almost all the hostels are situated in the campus and within walkable distance from teaching departments/Central Library/Administration Block/Bank/PostOffice/P.C.O./Dispensary/Cafeteria etc.
The Hostels are neat, clean and possess all kinds of amenities for making the living of boarders recreational and enjoyable. The room of each hostel is well ventilated and airy. Few rooms in each hostel have single seated capacity and majority is double seated. Each hostel has a very big lush green sprawling lawn in front and backyard of the hostel. Each hostel has telephone facility, sports facility (T.T./Badminton/Chess etc) drinking water fitted with acquaguard, refrigerators, water coolers, television, modern cooking gas plant, geysers fitted, economical and affordable mess charges. Inverters are fitted for acting as standby light arrangement in the absence of power, good reading rooms with latest career and information promoting magazines, local/national papers subscribed, well furnished guest room and desired first aid is available in each Hostel.

The Girls Hostels are known to have a distinct features of girls living in a well disciplined manner. The time limit is enforced for leaving the hostel and reporting back to the premises of the hostel. Attendance is taken on every day in the evening at the prescribed time and every boarder is required to be present prior to that. The Girls boarders are not allowed to leave the hostel thereafter. A strict vigil is kept on the entry and departure at the gate. No unauthorized person is ever allowed to enter into the hostel.

Placement drive was held in the University of Jammu by Extramarks, a leading Ed-tech company through Campus Placement process for the post of Business Development Executive under the patronage of Prof Manoj K Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu. Jammu University, Indian Army Collaborate to Offer Certificate Course in Bhadarwahi Language to Armed Forces
New Delhi: The University of Jammu has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Army to offer a certificate course to Army Troops in the Bhadarwahi language. The course aims to develop a better understanding between the force and the local population.
Under this collaboration, the University of Jammu and the Indian Army will offer a four-month-long certificate course in the Bhadarwahi language. Army troops will have the opportunity to learn the language with four dialects; Siraji, Padri, Pogali, and Gaddi.
Speaking on the occasion, Aarif Khateeb of Jammu University informed that "the four-month-long Jammu University Course 2022 will be conducted jointly by instructors of the Indian Army and external academicians well versed in Bhadarwahi language".
Adding to the statement, Col Rajat Parmar, the Commanding Officer of the Army's 4 Rashtriya Rifles stated that this initiative will strengthen the bond between the Indian Army and Jammu University.
Jammu University Introduces New Journalism and Media Studies Department; Check Details Here
New Delhi: Jammu University introduced a department of journalism and media studies on Saturday, which was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Manoj Dhar, who described it as a long-awaited aspiration of the university.
He stated that, in addition to normal classroom lectures, the course would involve ongoing engagement with the top journalists in the nation, frequent workshops, exposure to the newest technology, special lectures, hands-on-the-job experimentation, and institutional visits.
Dhar spoke on the formation of a Centre for Media Studies, which will include an Oral History Cell, a Language Lab, and a Community Radio Station, as part of his larger vision for the Department.
He also highlighted that the practical component of the training will be essential.
Prof Dhar thanked Sh Manoj Sinha, Hon'ble Governor of J&K and Chancellor of Jammu University, for his assistance and advice.
