Eligibilty Criteria

All candidates seeking admission through the WBJEE 2022 entrance examination into various undergraduate courses offered by the West Bengals government and private colleges should also check their eligibility criteria. Before filling out the WBJEE 2022 application form, they must be eligible to take the exam. Candidates should review the eligibility requirements listed below:

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • As of 31st December  2022, the minimum age for a candidate taking the WBJEE is 17 years.
  • He or she must be born between 31st December 2004, and 31st December 2005.
  • As of 31st December 2022, the maximum age for applying to the marine engineering programme will be 25 years.
  • Candidates seeking admission to other courses have no upper age limit.
  • It is mandatory to pass the Class 12 or equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks through the West
  • Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other relevant Council/Board.
  • Physics and mathematics are considered for admission.
  • Biotechnology/Chemistry/Biology/Technical will be offered as electives.
  • Candidates in the reserved category will not be subject to the percentage rule. They can apply for the exam if their overall grade point average is 45 percent.

Nationality Indian

Qualification 10+2 or it's equivalent from any recognized board
Mandatory Subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English Physics & Chemistry
Minimum Marks At least 45% (40% for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD)
Domicile Requirements Domicile requirement for WBJEE is required to be eligible for the counselling process. The domicile criteria are required for-
- Any seat in any Government-aided Engineering/ Technology/ Pharmacy Colleges.
- 90% for general category seats in Jadavpur University.
- Any seat in Aliah University.
- Any seat including general category seats in B.Tech (Dairy Technology) in West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences
- Any reserved category seat (SC, ST, OBC- A, OBC- B, PwD, TFW) in any course in any institute.


Exam Pattern

The exam pattern is the most important aspect of preparing for any state-level or national-level entrance exam. All candidates are advised to familiarise themselves with the WBJEE exam pattern as specified by the official exam conducting body. They must thoroughly study the exam pattern in order to avoid problems. This will assist candidates in better understanding the structure of the question paper.

The WBJEE 2022 question paper will be divided into three major sections: physics, chemistry, and mathematics. The WBJEE question paper will contain 155 questions worth 200 points. While the Physics and Chemistry papers will be administered on the first day, the Mathematics/Biology papers will be administered on the second day of the WBJEE exam.

WBJEE 2022 Marking Scheme

  • The total number of questions for each subject in WBJEE is divided into 3 categories, wherein, Physics & Chemistry have the same number of questions in each category i.e. 30, 5 & 5 in categories 1, 2 & 3 respectively; whereas Mathematics consists of 50, 15 & 10 in category 1, 2 & 3 respectively.
  • Although the number of questions varies for the subjects, the WBJEE 2022 Marking Scheme for each category of every subject is the same and as provided below

The syllabus for WBJEE 2022 will be available on the WBJEEBs official website. For an effective preparation strategy, candidates should thoroughly understand the WBJEE 2022 syllabus. The WBJEE syllabus will assist candidates in studying the relevant topics, chapters, and practice questions. Candidates can also study books related to the syllabus and previous years; WBJEE question papers.

Physics: Wave Motion, Nuclear Physics, Solids & Semiconductor Devices, Modern Physics – Atomic Models, Laws of Motion, Rotational Motion, Current Electricity, Heat and Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magmatism, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magmatism, Work Energy Power, Simple Harmonic Motion, Physics of Nucleolus.

Chemistry: Redox Reactions, Chemical Equilibrium, p- Block Elements, Ionic Equilibrium, Coordination Compounds, Carboxylic Acids & Derivatives, Chemical Kinetics, Transition Elements (d & f block), Alcohol Phenol Ether, Chemical Bonding, Chemical Thermodynamics, Organic Chemistry, S block elements.

Mathematics: Matrices & Determinants, Indefinite Integration, Vectors, 3-D Geometry, Permutation & Combination, Sets, Relation & Functions, Probability, Limits, Definite Integration, Complex Numbers, Sets, Relation & Functions, 3-D Geometry.


Counseling for WBJEE 2022

Following the announcement of the results, WBJEEB will begin WBJEE 2022 counselling. The qualified candidates will be required to engage in the admissions counselling process. Candidates must first register for WBJEE counselling and fill up their college and course preferences in order of preference. Allotment will be based on the candidate’s rank, preferences, and seat availability.

Cutoff for WBJEE 2022

On the official website wbjeeb.nic.in, the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) will announce the WBJEE 2022 cutoff. After each round of WBJEE counselling, the authorities will disclose the WBJEE cutoff. The WBJEE cutoff 2022 is the threshold below which admission to participating colleges in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination 2022 would be granted.
