Eligibility Criteria
- Educational qualification: Candidates must have a Master’s degree or equivalent examination from a recognized university in the relevant subject.
- Minimum marks: Candidates must have secured at least 55% marks in their Master’s degree examination. A relaxation of 5% is given to candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), and Transgenders.

- Candidates who have appeared for their final year Master’s degree examination and whose result is still awaited can also apply for the UGC NET exam. However, they will need to submit their final year Master’s degree result to the NTA within 2 years of the date of the UGC NET exam.
