Training & Internships
The department of Training and Placement, the marketing division of the institute has these following functions and responsibilities:
  • Nurtures Industry Institute interaction, by organizing and coordinating frequent industrial visits, inplant training and projects of industrial relevance for the students, with the sole aim of zeroing down the hiatus between the industry and the academia.
  • Receives and forwards the feedback pertinent to curriculum improvement from the visiting companies to the faculty, to ensure that the curriculum follows the latest industrial trends.
  • Helps every student define his/her career interest through individual expert counseling.
  • Organizes and coordinates Campus Placement Program, to fulfill its commitment of a job to every aspirant.
  • Over the years, the department has maintained symbiotic, vibrant and purposeful relationship with Industries across the country and as a result, has built up an impressive placement record both in terms of percentage of registered students placed, as well as the number of companies visiting the campus.
  • Over 220 companies participate in the placement process every year. The institute enjoys best placements when it comes to PG programmes.

  • The department has been sanctioned Rs.20 lakhs from FIST towards networking.
  • MHRD Thrust Area project titled, "CFD modelling of chemical process equipment", Amount Rs. 10 lakhs, Duration – 2 years. Orders are being placed for the purchase of software and other equipment. Research Assistants have been recruited and the work is in progress.
  • MHRD - MODROBS project on Modernization of chemical reaction Engineering Laboratory in proress.

  • Hydrogen from Biomass for Fuel Cell application: Process research & Development, sponsored by High Energy Batteries, Trichy.
  • Beneficiation of iron Ore & Coal: Process Research & Development, Sponsored by Tata Steel, Jamshedpur.
  • Enzymatic transformations for value added esters and chemicals from oils & Fats, Sponsored by Bunge India pvt Ltd.
  • CO2 sequestration from Power plants by Absorption process- Sponsored by BHEL, Trichy- Outlay Rs. 4.8 Lakhs - agreed in Principle awaiting clearance.
Hostel For Male
  • There are 22 boys' hostels. they accommodate 4000+ undergraduate, postgraduate students and research scholars .
  • One more hostel is under construction.
  • Committees consisting of elected student representatives and Wardens manage them.
  • Each hostel is managed by a Warden.
  • The first year UG boys' hostels have two resident deputy wardens.
  • The Hostel Executive Committee headed by the Convener and the DCW coordinates the work among wardens and deputy wardens.

  • NIT Trichy Organised High End Workshop on Application of Artificial Intelligence
New Delhi: National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy has organised a high-end workshop on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in food processing. The workshop was sponsored by SERB (Science and Engineering Research Board) and held as part of the Accelerate Vigyan Scheme.

As per NIT Trichy, the National Institute of Food Technological Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), Thanjavur, and the technology institute collaborated to arrange the seven-day workshop program. Several education specialists participated in the workshop and along with 25 participants.
The participants who joined the workshop were chosen at random from around the nation. The workshop included demonstrations of solar-assisted cold storage systems using a prototype with a two-ton capacity along with a discussion on the large array of themes addressed by artificial intelligence.
