About
Panjab University is a premier educational institution located in Chandigarh, India. It was established in 1882 as the University of Punjab in Lahore, and was relocated to Chandigarh in 1956 after the partition of India. The university has been accredited with a 'Grade A' by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
Panjab University offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various fields such as arts, humanities, science, engineering, management, law, and medical sciences. The university has 78 teaching and research departments, and more than 190 affiliated colleges across the states of Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh.
College Award & Ranking
Panjab University,Chandigarh one of the oldest universities in India has been ranked among the top Universities in country by all the ranking agencies. It affiliates 194 colleges and 6 constituent colleges are spread over four districts of the state Punjab.
NIRF, in its recent rankings of 2022 has ranked the institute at 29th position in Research Category among top 50 universities in India. Panjab University Chandigarh has a well-developed hostel system, which provides accommodation to its students, both male and female, from different parts of India and other countries. The university has a total of 22 hostels, including 11 for men and 11 for women, with a capacity of over 8,000 students.
The hostels are equipped with modern facilities, including furnished rooms, common rooms, study rooms, and recreational areas. The rooms are equipped with basic amenities such as beds, tables, chairs, and cupboards, and the hostel premises are secured with round-the-clock security.
The hostel messes provide hygienic and nutritious food to the students, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The university also provides facilities such as laundry, medical care, and internet connectivity to the students living in the hostels.
