Know India’s best schemes after the 12th class

The hard truth of this life is – to study more, we must pay more. Many students in India dream to go to college but fail to achieve their dreams due to their financial background, or lack of it thereof. Even students who somehow manage to pay their fee might need an extra hand to help them out. No child should have the prospect of higher education stolen from them solely because of their inability to put up with the high fee demand from colleges. There are plenty of scholarships that are provided for 12th graduates, both from the private and government sector. In the government sector again, both the central and state government provide aid to students through various India schemes. These scholarships are usually provided to students on merit basis and fund up to 1 lakh Rupees for each student, there are also options of scholarships that are not based on merit. Scholarships can help the students and their families in realizing their dreams without feeling the burden to scrounge for money. Therefore, in this article, we mention some India’s scholarship schemes that every student graduating 12th standard should look out for.

India's scheme

College Admission Scholarship Application (CASA)

Students who have passed their 12th grade as well as students who have completed their undergraduate program can apply for this scholarship. However, the catch is that the scholarship only holds true for admission into AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) approved colleges and institutions. The upside is there are plenty of reputable colleges across the country which are AICTE approved. This scholarship grants students who have scored 75% and above in their 12th board exams various scholarship opportunities based on the information filled in the required application documents.

AICTE Pragati Scholarship for Girls

This particular scholarship is not much different from the CASA scholarship program. The main difference is that the Pragati Scholarship is only for girls and is provided to one girl per family whose income is less than 6 lakhs per annum. The similarity is that only AICTE approved institutions can be joined using this scholarship and that it is merit-based as well.

PM Narendra Modi Scholarship for 12th Pass Students

The Prime Minister funded scholarship is only for those children who are children and/or wards of the men and women in the Armed Forces. This aid is also extended for the widows of the Armed Forces personnel. Scholarship of Rs.30,000 is provided to male candidates and Rs.36,000 for female candidates all over India. The scholarship requires the students to secure a minimum of 60% in their 12th standard and they must continue to score above 50% in their Undergraduate degree to keep availing the incentives each year.

India's

North-South Foundation (NSF)

The NSF scholarship is available to students aspiring to pursue Engineering, Medical, or Polytechnic whose families have an annual income of 1 lakh or less. Although all students are eligible for this scholarship, students coming from government schools are given more priority. This scholarship will be void if the student has received aid or scholarship from other programs as well. It is a merit-based scholarship so it is mandatory for students to score ranks in competitive exams and gain admission into government or government-aided colleges.

Nationwide Education and Scholarship Test (NEST)

The NEST scholarship provides four different programs that are – NEST-SENIOR 1 and 2 as well as NEST-JUNIOR 1 and 2. While science stream students can apply either through NEST-SENIOR-1 or NEST-JUNIOR-2, students from other backgrounds can only apply for NEST-JUNIOR-2. As clearly stated in the same, students will have to undergo an exam to qualify for this scholarship, the syllabus of which is given on the official NEST website.
