Academia-Industry Connect
Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi (IIT Mandi) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Vehant Technologies, an Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning based surveillance platform to promote industry academia collaboration, an official statement said. Under the partnership, Vehant’s researchers shall collaborate with the researchers of IIT Mandi with mutual interest on developing enhanced applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) technologies in security screening solutions offered by the company.
Furthermore, as a part of the agreement, Vehant Technologies will sponsor up to five students enrolled in Masters in Technology (MTech) programme in the year 2023-24. In addition, the company will further sponsor research projects, faculty consultancies and PhD students at the institute in order to benefit from the mindshare of faculty and students.

Enhancing the School Libraries of Himachal Pradesh :-
Students: Lyne Moore, WPI; Catherine Sherman, WPI; Alexander Glanville, WPI; Abhijeet Rajput, IIT; Kumar Abinash, IIT; Abhinandan, IIT; Advisors: Dr. Bharat Singh, IIT; Dr. Gbeton Somasse, WPI; Dr. Ingrid Shockey, WPI School libraries can promote independent learning but little is known about them in Himachal Pradesh. Through research, school visits, and interviews we were able to evaluate a sample of schools in Mandi District. We found that state schools often lacked the most library interest and programs. To increase library use, schools can add a 15 minute reading period three to five times per week and books can be brought from storage to classrooms to circumvent infrastructure problems.

Placement
IIT Mandi has conducted its Phase 1 campus placement of 2023. A total of 249 students has been placed so far and out of which 70 were pre-placement offers. The highest and average package offered stood at INR 60 LPA and INR 25.23 LPA. The median package offered was INR 26 LPA. More than 85 companies participated in this placement process and till now 140 national and international companies have registered with the college. So far IIT Mandi has received 90 international offers and some of the major giant companies who participated in this process namely Uber, Amazon, Walmart, Oracle, etc.
According to a recent media report, the majority of PPO's till date have been in the software analyst and data scientist industries. This year, the institute has already received one international PPO. Sprinklr, Texas Instruments, Uber, Arista Networks, Radisys, ODE, Zomato, Nohara Holdings, and many more are the first-time recruiters.
MNC’s such as Sprinklr, Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Indeed, Uber, Goldman Sachs, Flipkart, Siemens, Samsung Research Institute Bangalore, Schrodinger, Walmart, Zomato, Texas Instruments, ODE, Arista Networks, Yum, Radisys, Accenture, Nucleus Software, Western Digital, and Nohara Holdings, Inc., and many more visited the campus and offered PPO to IIT Mandi students during placement drive 2023.
The placement percentage recorded during IIT Mandi BTech placements 2023 was 93.4%. A total of 156 students were placed out of 167 eligible and registered students during IIT Mandi placements 2023. Further, a total of 200 job offers were received during IIT Mandi BTech placements 2023. According to reports, the highest domestic and international package was offered from Microsoft and Diverta, respectively.
