ASRB NET Exam

Reservation

ASRB (Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board) follows the reservation policy of the Government of India. Here are the reservation categories for ASRB NET exam:

SC (Scheduled Caste): 15%
ST (Scheduled Tribe): 7.5%
OBC (Other Backward Classes): 27%
EWS (Economically Weaker Section): 10%
PwD (Persons with Disability): 5%

Candidates belonging to any of the above categories can avail the reservation benefits provided they submit the necessary certificates at the time of the exam. The reservation benefits are applicable only to the candidates who are permanent residents of the concerned states or union territories.

Counselling

ASRB (Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board) does not conduct any counselling process for the NET (National Eligibility Test) qualified candidates. After the written exam, the board declares the result based on the candidates' performance.

Candidates who qualify the written exam are called for an interview, which is the final stage of the selection process. The interview is conducted by the respective state agricultural universities (SAUs) or other agricultural universities (AUs), where the vacancies are available.

The SAUs or AUs will release their own separate notification for the recruitment of Assistant Professors/Lecturers based on the ASRB NET exam score. Shortlisted candidates are then called for an interview by the respective universities.

During the interview, the candidates are evaluated on their subject knowledge, research aptitude, communication skills, and other relevant factors. The final selection is based on the candidate's performance in the interview.

Exam

Here are the highlights of the ASRB NET (National Eligibility Test) exam:

Exam Conducting Body: The Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) conducts the ASRB NET exam.
Exam Frequency: The ASRB NET exam is conducted once a year.
Exam Mode: The exam is conducted in online mode (computer-based test).
Subjects Offered: The ASRB NET exam is conducted for 57 subjects in various disciplines of agriculture, veterinary science, fisheries science, and other allied sciences.
Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must have a Master's degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks to appear for the exam.
Age Limit: There is no upper age limit to apply for the ASRB NET exam.
Exam Pattern: The exam consists of one paper with 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) of 1 mark each. The total duration of the exam is 2 hours.
Syllabus: The syllabus for the ASRB NET exam is based on the post-graduation level of the relevant subject.
Marking Scheme: For every correct answer, one mark is awarded, and for every wrong answer, 1/3rd of the marks are deducted.
Cut-Off: The ASRB NET cut-off marks vary based on the subject, category, and the number of vacancies.

Eligibilty Criteria

To take the ASRB NET exam, candidates must have to be eligible. The eligibility criteria for the ASRB NET Exam are as follows:

ASRB NET Eligibility: Nationality

A citizen of India
A citizen of Nepal or Bhutan
Refugees from Tibet (those who came to India before January 1st, 1962)

ASRB NET Eligibility: Age Limits

To apply for the ASRB NET exam, candidates must have to be 21 years old as of January 01, 2022
Candidates below the mentioned age are not eligible to sit for the exam
There is no upper age limit for ASRB NET candidates.

Educational Qualifications

Candidates must have passed their Master’s in the concerned field before applying for the exam.
The candidates must have passed from a recognized Indian University.
If the candidate has passed from a foreign University, it must be recognized by the Govt. of India and the degree must be equivalent to the Master's degree offered by an Indian University.
