TNEA or Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions is a counselling process conducted by Anna University each year for admissions into the engineering and related technology courses in the state of Tamil Nadu. The process involves five major steps- Registration, Payment of Registration Fee, Choice Filling, Seat Allotment and Confirmation. The admissions into Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions participating colleges are purely based on Merit List prepared on the basis of Class 12th scores of the registered candidates and no entrance exam is conducted for the same. According to TNEA 2025 Eligibility Criteria, candidates seeking admissions into B.Tech/B.E courses and related technical courses must be a native of Tamil Nadu or have completed his/her Intermediate education in Tamil Nadu. In addition to the domicile criteria, the candidate should score at least 45% (for General category) in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in class 12th. Candidates must pay an application fee of INR 500 (General) or INR 250 (Reserved) during their online application.

What is TNEA?
TNEA stands for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions. It is the admission process for undergraduate engineering courses in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The admission process is conducted by the Anna University, Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions admission process is based on the marks obtained by the candidates in their qualifying examination, i.e., Class 12th board examination. The admission process is entirely online, and candidates have to register and fill in their personal and academic details, along with their choice of colleges and courses.
After the registration process, the Anna University publishes a merit list based on the marks obtained by the candidates in their Class 12th examination. The merit list is used for seat allotment to various engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu.

The TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions) application form is available online on the official website of TNEA. The application process is conducted entirely in online mode, and the candidates have to follow the steps given below to fill and submit their Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions application form:
To fill out the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions application form, candidates need to follow these steps:
- Visit the official website of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions at https://www.tneaonline.org/.
- Click on the "New User Registration" link on the homepage.
- Enter the required details such as name, mobile number, email id, and password to create your account.
- Once the account is created, log in using your email id and password.
- Fill in the TNEA application form with your personal, educational, and communication details.
- Upload the scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and other necessary documents as per the specified format and size.
- Pay the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions application fee through the online mode using a credit/debit card or net banking.
- After successful payment, submit the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions application form online.
- Take a printout of the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions application form and keep it safe for future reference.
Registration
Students can fill TNEA 2025 Application Form online on the official website until the Third week of August, 2025. The detailed steps to fill and submit TNEA 2025 Application Form are as following:
- Visit the official website and select the “Online Registration” link.
- Register and obtain a Registration number/Login ID and Password
- Fill personal and academic details and attach the relevant form as and when required.
- After ensuring all the information entered is correct and relevant, submit the application and pay the application fees by debit card, credit card, UPI and other payment options.
- Take a printout of the filled application form or save it as an soft copy
Candidates must ensure that the email ID and mobile number they are submitting are active till the completion of the counselling process so that the university can notify them of any correction or update.
Since no form correction is allowed after submission, candidates must fill their TNEA 2023 Application Form very carefully
Eligibility Criteria
It is very important for candidates to know before applying as failing to meet any of the criteria would lead to rejection of the form. Only, the candidates who qualify the eligibility conditions must proceed to fill the application form.
TNEA 2025 Domicile Criteria
According to the Domicile Criteria for TNEA 2025, the following candidates are eligible to register. The candidate is required to meet any one of the following Domicile Criteria to register for TNEA 2025:

Exam Pattern

TNEA 2025 Category-Wise Seat Distribution
As per the rules for TNEA Reservation Criteria 2025, the selection of the candidate will be based on seven categories. These seven categories are- OC, BC, BCM (BC Muslim), MBC and DNC, SC, SCA and ST reservation.

Counselling
TNEA 2025 Counselling will be held from September 7 to October 20. The students would be called for counselling rounds on the basis of their ranks, reservation and choices filled in the merit list and allotted colleges as such. A counselling call letter would be released by the authorities after the submission of the counselling fee. During counselling candidates would be allotted seats in TNEA participating colleges in Tamil Nadu. Once a college is allotted, the candidate must report to the college on the specified date and time in the allotment letter.

Syllabus
The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) does not have a specific syllabus as the admission is solely based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the 12th standard board exams. However, the candidates are expected to have a good understanding of the following subjects:
