UCEED stands for Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design. It is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay for admission into the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) program offered by IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IIITDM Jabalpur.
The UCEED exam is open to students who have passed their 10+2 exam or equivalent, or are appearing for the same in the current academic year. The exam is also open to students who have passed their qualifying exam in the previous year.

What is UCEED?
UCEED stands for Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design. It is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay for admission into the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) program offered by IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IIITDM Jabalpur. The exam is conducted once a year and is open to students who have passed their 10+2 exam or equivalent, or are appearing for the same in the current academic year. The UCEED exam tests the candidate's aptitude in design, drawing, visualization skills, general awareness, creativity, drawing skills, visual communication abilities, and writing skills. Candidates who qualify in the UCEED exam are eligible for admission into the B.Des. program offered by the participating institutes.

UCEED Application Form
The application form for UCEED is available online on the official website of IIT Bombay. The application process is usually open in the month of September and the last date for submission of the application form is usually in the month of October.
To apply for UCEED, follow the steps given below:
- Visit the official website of UCEED and click on the link for the application form.
- Register yourself by providing your basic details such as name, email address, mobile number, etc.
- Log in to your account using the credentials provided during registration.
- Fill in the application form by providing your personal details, academic qualifications, and other necessary information.
- Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and other required documents.
- Pay the application fee using a valid debit/credit card or net banking.
The application fee for UCEED varies for different categories. Candidates belonging to the General/OBC-NCL category need to pay Rs. 3,000, while candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories need to pay Rs. 1,500.
Registration
IIT Bombay will release the UCEED 2025 application form in the first week of September 2025. Eligible candidates can fill out the UCEED exam application form online by visiting the official website - uceed.iitb.ac.in.
The application process for UCEED 2025 exam is as follows:
- Candidates who want to appear for UCEED exam 2025 first need to register through the online portal link www.uceed.iitb.ac.in
- The candidates are required to register by submitting their mobile number, name, email address, and date of birth.
- After registration, candidates need to fill in their personal and academic details in the application form along with three exam centres of their choice.
- The following documents need to be uploaded while online registration for UCEED 2025
- Recent colored photograph
- A scanned copy of the candidate's full signature on the white sheet/paper
- Qualifying examination certificate if appeared in 2025 or before
- Certificate from school/college principal, if they are appearing in 2025
- Date of birth proof, such as passport, SSC certificate, or birth certificate
- Candidates need to pay the fee through online mode which is through net banking, debit, and credit card.
- Candidates are required to submit the application form.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for UCEED, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:
- Age Limit: Candidates belonging to the General/OBC-NCL category must have been born on or after October 1, 1998. Candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PwD categories must have been born on or after October 1, 1993.
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed their 10+2 exam or equivalent from a recognized board. Candidates appearing for their 10+2 exam in the current academic year are also eligible to apply for UCEED.
- Maximum Attempts: Candidates can attempt UCEED for a maximum of two times in consecutive years.
- Nationality: Candidates must be Indian nationals or foreign nationals who satisfy the eligibility criteria prescribed by the participating institutes.

Reservation
The reservation policy for UCEED is as follows:
- OBC-NCL: 27% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the OBC-NCL category. The OBC-NCL certificate should be issued on or after April, 2025, and should be valid till the last date of UCEED application.
- SC: 15% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the SC category. The SC certificate should be issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format.
- ST: 7.5% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the ST category. The ST certificate should be issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format.
- PwD: 5% of the seats are reserved for candidates with benchmark disabilities, as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
The above reservations are applicable only to Indian nationals. The participating institutes also provide supernumerary seats for foreign nationals and overseas citizens of India (OCI) who do not fall under any reservation category.
Counselling
The counseling will be conducted online as a Joint Admission Process for admission to the B.Des program, which has an intake capacity of 199 seats at the five participating institutes.
There will be THREE seat allotment rounds.
The allotment for Round I will be announced on April , 2025. This will be followed by allotment for Round II on May 10, and the 3rd and final allotment on June , 2025.
The seat allotment would be made institute-wise considering:

Candidates who are allotted seats have to accept the allotted seat and pay the seat acceptance fee.
The seat acceptance fee is Rs. 60,000 for GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL, and Rs. 15,000 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. The fee has to be paid online through the UCEED 2023 admission portal.

Admit card
UCEED admit card is an important document that needs to be carried by candidates to the exam center. The admit card is usually released in the month of December and can be downloaded from the official website of UCEED.
To download the UCEED admit card, follow the steps given below:
- Visit the official website of UCEED and click on the link for downloading the admit card.
- Log in to your account using the credentials provided during registration.
- Click on the link to download the admit card.
- Check all the details mentioned on the admit card such as name, exam center, date and time of the exam, photograph, etc.
- Take a printout of the admit card and keep it safely for future reference.
