What is CDS 2025?
CDS 2025 refers to the Combined Defense Services Examination that will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in the year 2025. The Combined Defense Services exam is conducted twice a year, typically in February and November, to select candidates for various officer posts in the Indian Armed Forces, namely the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. Combined Defense Services 1 Application Form 2025
Application form of Combined Defense Services 2025 has been released online by the UPSC on December 2024. The application form comprises two parts. The application fee can be paid both online and offline. The application fees are INR 200 for General and OBC male candidates. SC and ST candidates are exempted from fee payment. Candidates must check the CDS eligibility criteria before filling out the application form.

Programmes Offered & Eligibility
The CDS (Combined Defence Services) exam is conducted for candidates who wish to join the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force as officers. Based on their preference and merit ranking, the selected candidates undergo training at the following prestigious institutes:
- Indian Military Academy (IMA) - Dehradun, Uttarakhand: Pre-commission Training for Regular Commission in the Army.
- Indian Naval Academy (INA) - Ezhimala, Kerala: Pre-commission Training for Permanent Commission in Executive (General Service) and Naval Armament Inspectorate Cadre.
- Air Force Academy (AFA) - Dundigal, Hyderabad: Pre-commission Training for Permanent Commission in Flying and Short Service Commission in Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches.
- Officers Training Academy (OTA) - Chennai, Tamil Nadu: Pre-commission Training for Short Service Commission (Non-Technical) Men and Women in the Army.

CDS Eligibility 2025
CDS exam is conducted twice a year by UPSC to select candidates as Commissioned Officers in the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Both male and female candidates can apply for CDS vacancies. To be eligible for the exam, candidates need to fulfill the following eligibility conditions:
- Candidates must be permanently settled in India
- Candidates must be a graduate or are in their final year of graduation
- The minimum age limit for the exam is 19 years
- Women candidates are eligible for OTA
- Divorced and issueless women can apply for the exam
- BTech graduates can apply for IMA, INA, AFA
- Candidates need to meet the physical standards

- Step 2: There aspirants will find an option of application link, click on that.
- Step 3: Click on new registration and complete the registration process.
- Step 4: You will receive the registration number and password on your mail-id.
- Step 5: Log in using your credential and click on apply now.
- Step 6: Aspirants need to fill in their personal and educational details in the application form.
- Step 7: Upload a recent photograph and scanned copy of the signature
- Step 8: Choose the examination center and proceed with the application form.
- Step 9: Please check the details once again before submitting the form as no correction is allowed once the application is submitted.

Eligibility Criteria

CDS Eligibility Criteria: Nationality
- The candidates should be a citizen of India (COI)
- The aspirant can be a citizen of either Nepal or Bhutan.
- The citizens of Indian origin who have migrated and shifted permanently to India are also eligible. Only the migrated people from these countries are allowed Kenya, Pakistan, Uganda, Burma, Sri Lanka, Zaire, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Ethiopia, Vietnam, or Malawi.
- The Tibetan refugee settled in India permanently before January 01,1962.
CDS 2025 Eligibility: Age Limit
The candidate applying for the CDS Combined Defence Services Exam 2025 must fulfil the age criteria as per the official notification. The age criteria are provided below.
- Male aspirants who are unmarried and fulfil the criteria of citizenship born not earlier than January/ July 2, 1999, and not later than January/ July 1, 2004, are eligible to apply for the Indian Naval Academy and Indian Military Academy.
- Aspirants who fulfil the citizenship criteria and are born not earlier than January/ July 2, 1999, and not later than January/ July 1, 2003, can apply for Air Force Academy.
- Unmarried male aspirants who fulfil the criteria of citizenship and are born not earlier than January/ July 2, 1998, and not later than January/ July 1, 2004, are eligible For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Course for men).
- Unmarried women, widows, and divorcee aspirants and not remarried and also who fulfil the citizenship criteria and are born not earlier than January/ July 2, 1998, and not later than January/ July 1, 2004, are eligible For the Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course).
CDS 2025 Eligibility: Educational Qualifications
- For Indian Naval Academy: Aspirants must have a degree in the engineering field from a recognized university/ institution or any other equivalent to apply to the Naval academy.
- For Air Force Academy: Aspirants must have a bachelor's Degree with maths and physics as compulsory subjects or a bachelor's in engineering field from any university or institute or any other equivalent to apply to the air force academy.
- For Officers Training Academy and Indian Military Academy: Aspirants must have a bachelor's degree in any field from a recognized university or any other equivalent to apply to India Military Academy (IMA) and Officers’ Training Academy.
- For OTA and I.M.A: The candidate must have a relevant degree from a recognized university in the state of India.

Exam Pattern

The counselling process for CDS exam involves the following steps:
- Declaration of result: The result of the written exam is declared by UPSC on its official website. Candidates who qualify for the written exam are eligible for the next stage of selection.
- SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview, which is a 5-day process that includes several tests, such as intelligence and personality tests, group tasks, and interviews.
- Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the SSB interview are called for a medical examination to ensure that they meet the physical and medical standards required for the defence services.
- Final Merit List: The final merit list is prepared based on the candidate's performance in the written exam, SSB interview, and medical examination.
- Allotment of Services: Based on the final merit list, candidates are allotted the services and academies for which they had applied and qualified. The allotment is based on the candidate's rank and preference.
- Document Verification: Candidates who are allotted services and academies are required to submit their original documents for verification. This includes educational certificates, date of birth certificate, identity proof, and other relevant documents.
- Reporting to the Academy: Candidates who are selected and allotted an academy are required to report to the academy on the specified date and time to begin their training.

Admit card
