IAAS Addmission Process
- Preliminary Examination: The first stage of the CSE is the Preliminary Examination, which consists of two objective type papers of 200 marks each. The duration of each paper is two hours. The papers are General Studies Paper-I and General Studies Paper-II (also known as Civil Services Aptitude Test or CSAT). The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are not counted towards the final merit list. However, candidates who clear the Preliminary Examination are eligible to appear for the Main Examination.
- Main Examination: The Main Examination consists of nine papers, out of which seven are counted for merit ranking. The papers include one Indian language paper, one English language paper, four General Studies papers, and two optional papers. Each paper carries 250 marks, except for the language papers, which carry 300 marks. The total marks for the Main Examination are 1750.
- Personality Test (Interview): Candidates who clear the Main Examination are called for a Personality Test, also known as the Interview. The Interview carries 275 marks and is conducted by a Board constituted by the UPSC.
