The Indian Audit and Accounts Service officers are appointed through the Civil Services Examination conducted by the UPSC. Candidates who have completed their graduation in any discipline are eligible to apply for the exam. The selection process consists of three stages – Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview.

The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers – General Studies and Aptitude Test. The General Studies paper tests the candidate’s knowledge of current events, history, geography, polity, and economics, while the Aptitude Test assesses their analytical and reasoning abilities.

Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination are eligible to appear for the Main Examination. The Main Examination consists of nine papers, out of which two are qualifying in nature – one in English and one in any Indian language. The other seven papers are evaluated for merit.

IAAS APPLICATION FORM

The IAAS (Indian Audit and Accounts Service) application form is released by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on its official website. Interested candidates can fill the application form for IAAS as per the instructions provided on the website.
The application process for IAAS is conducted in online mode only. Candidates need to visit the UPSC website and click on the “Apply Online” link to access the application form. They need to provide their personal and educational details as per the guidelines mentioned in the form.
Candidates also need to upload their scanned photograph and signature in the specified format and size. The photograph should be in color and should have a light background. The signature should be done in black ink on a white paper.

IAAS Addmission Process

The admission process for IAAS (Indian Audit and Accounts Service) is based on the Civil Services Examination (CSE) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The CSE consists of three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Personality Test (Interview).
  1. Preliminary Examination: The first stage of the CSE is the Preliminary Examination, which consists of two objective type papers of 200 marks each. The duration of each paper is two hours. The papers are General Studies Paper-I and General Studies Paper-II (also known as Civil Services Aptitude Test or CSAT). The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are not counted towards the final merit list. However, candidates who clear the Preliminary Examination are eligible to appear for the Main Examination.
  2. Main Examination: The Main Examination consists of nine papers, out of which seven are counted for merit ranking. The papers include one Indian language paper, one English language paper, four General Studies papers, and two optional papers. Each paper carries 250 marks, except for the language papers, which carry 300 marks. The total marks for the Main Examination are 1750.
  3. Personality Test (Interview): Candidates who clear the Main Examination are called for a Personality Test, also known as the Interview. The Interview carries 275 marks and is conducted by a Board constituted by the UPSC.
Based on the total marks obtained in the Main Examination and the Interview, candidates are allocated to the IAAS and other Group A services as per their preferences and the vacancies available.
