Eligibilty Criteria

SPSC 2022 Eligibility: Age Limits

  • The SPSC has introduced an age limit for the PCS exam. Candidates between the ages of 21 and 35 are eligible to take the exam. However, depending on the candidate's category, the age limit and relaxation vary.
  • Those who fall into the reserved categories, such as SC and ST, will be given an age relaxation in their latter years.
  • Candidates from the SC and ST categories will be given 5-year age relaxation.
  • Candidates from the other backward categories will be granted a three-year age relaxation.

SPSC Educational Qualifications

Candidates must have earned a bachelor's degree or an equivalent three-year diploma from a recognised institution.

Exam Pattern

Sikkim PSC Prelims, Mains, and Interview are the three stages of the SPSC Exam Pattern. Various competitive examinations are held by the Sikkim Public Service Commission for direct recruitment into state administrative jobs. Applicants are chosen based on their performance in the Sikkim PSC exam's Written Test and Interview.

SPSC Prelims Exam Pattern

The Sikkim PSC preliminary examination will be of the objective kind (multiple choice questions). This exam is only meant to be used as a screening tool. Only the results of the Sikkim PSC test will be used to shortlist applicants for the Sikkim PSC Mains examination. There are two papers in the Sikkim PSC Preliminary Examination.

The purpose of this test is to determine examinees' ability to solve Reasoning and Analytical questions. The preliminary examination is intended to screen candidates, and the marks acquired in the preliminary exam by a candidate who qualifies for the mains exam will not be used to calculate their final merit.

It is made up of two General Studies papers with objective / multiple-choice questions. For the purpose of evaluation, examinees must appear in both papers of the Civil Service (Preliminary) Examination. If an examinee fails to appear in both Civil Service (Preliminary) Examination papers, he or she would be disqualified.

  • The preliminary examination carries a total of 400 marks.
  • The examinations will last two hours each.

SPSC Exam Pattern of Mains Exam 2022

The SPSC Mains exam is a lengthy descriptive exam. The duration of each paper is 3 hours.

Sikkim PSC Interview

The Interview will be the final stage of the examination. Only those candidates who qualify based on their performance in the main competitive test and who meet the eligibility criteria will be interviewed. The names of qualified candidates will be listed in order of merit based on their overall scores in the main written exam and the interview.


SPSC Syllabus 2022

As a result, the Sikkim PSC Exam Syllabus can be separated into two sections: Sikkim PSC Prelims Syllabus and Sikkim PSC Mains Syllabus.

  • Current events of national, international, and local importance.
  • History of India and Indian National Movement.
  • Indian and World Geography - Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
  • Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Political System, Rights Issues, etc.
  • Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, Poverty, Inclusion, etc.
  • General issues on Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization
  • General Science

SPSC Prelims Paper- 2 for Civil Services Aptitude Test

Sikkim PSC Mains Syllabus: English

Candidates will be required to write three short essays on specific topics in English. Subjects will be chosen from a list. They will be asked to stay focused on the essay's topic, organise their thoughts in a logical manner, and write concisely. Effective and precise expression will be rewarded.
