PUCET 2023

PUCET stands for Panjab University Common Entrance Test. It is a university-level entrance examination conducted by Panjab University for admission to various undergraduate, postgraduate, and integrated courses offered by its affiliated colleges. The PUCET exam is conducted once a year in offline mode (pen-and-paper-based). The exam generally consists of multiple-choice questions and is conducted for a duration of 90 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the course applied for.

How to fill PUCET Application Form

Here are the steps to fill the PUCET application form:

  1. Visit the official website of Panjab University – https://puchd.ac.in/.
  2. Click on the “Admission” tab and select “PUCET 2023” from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click on the “Apply Online” button.
  4. Fill in the required personal details such as name, email address, mobile number, etc.
  5. Create a login ID and password to complete the registration process.
  6. Log in using the credentials created in the previous step.
  7. Fill in the details such as academic qualifications, personal information, and communication details.
  8. Upload scanned copies of your photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
  9. Pay the application fee online through the available payment options.
  10. Review the details provided in the application form and make any necessary corrections.
  11. Submit the application form and take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference.

Syllabus PUCET

  • For B.Sc. (Hons.): The syllabus for B.Sc. (Hons.) includes topics from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics of the 10+2 level. The detailed syllabus for each subject is as follows:

    • Physics: Physical world and measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body, Gravitation, Properties of Bulk Matter, Thermodynamics, Behavior of Perfect Gas and Kinetic Theory, Oscillations and Waves, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms and Nuclei, Electronic Devices.
    • Chemistry: Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, States of Matter: Gases and Liquids, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Hydrogen, s-Block Elements (Alkali and Alkaline earth metals), Some p-Block Elements, Organic Chemistry: Some Basic Principles and Techniques, Hydrocarbons, Environmental Chemistry.
    • Biology: Diversity in Living World, Structural Organisation in Animals and Plants, Cell: Structure and Function, Plant Physiology, Human Physiology, Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Biology and Human Welfare, Biotechnology and Its Applications, Ecology and environment.
    • Mathematics: Sets and Functions, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Calculus, Mathematical Reasoning, Statistics and Probability.
  • For B.Pharm: The syllabus for B.Pharm includes topics from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics of the 10+2 level. Additionally, there will be questions related to pharmaceutical sciences and general awareness.

Exam pattern PUCET

The exam pattern of PUCET varies for different courses. Here is a general overview of the exam pattern for undergraduate courses:

  • Mode of Exam: Offline (Pen-and-paper based)

  • Total Number of Questions: 75
  • Marking Scheme: 2 marks will be awarded for every correct answer, and there will be a negative marking of 0.5 marks for every incorrect answer.

Eligibility Criteria For PUCET Exam

  • B.Sc. (Hons.):
    • Qualifying Exam: Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
    • Subjects: Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics in their 10+2 or equivalent examination.
    • Minimum Marks: Candidates must have secured at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • B.Pharm:
    • Qualifying Exam: Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
    • Subjects: Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics in their 10+2 or equivalent examination.
    • Minimum Marks: Candidates must have secured at least 55% marks in the qualifying examination.
