National Institute of Technology is premier engineering institutes in India for undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses. There are a total of 31 National Institute of Technology (NITs) of national importance regulated by the NIT Council autonomously. Admissions to B.Tech program are conducted via the JoSAA Counselling process as per all India rank secured in JEE Main. As per NIRF Ranking, NITs secure the second position after IITs in the country. There are a total number of 17868 seats for the undergraduate Engineering programs in all NITs (National Institute of Technology). The allotment of B.Tech seats in NITs is purely based on JEE Main score. Through JoSAA Counselling session, each NIT in the country releases its own cut off list in the form of Opening and Closing Ranks after each round. A candidate’s marks that are scored in class XII exams will also be considered during the selection process.
