With cut-throat competition among the students to bag a job according to their qualifications and requirements has not been easy for decades. Though it is not advisable to start looking for jobs just after clearing class 10th because as per the qualification the remuneration would be quite low, it’s not a nasty idea if it’s the need of the hour. One can apply for jobs to beat his/her financial problems. If one cannot do without a job it is advisable to look for a government job than a private job. The stability in government jobs and payroll has attracted students to apply for jobs in the government sector.

Here is a list of few government jobs in India for students who have cleared class 10th. All high school graduates can apply for these government jobs provided they qualify the eligibility criteria. The available options are RAILWAYS, DEFENCEBANKING SECTOR, STAFF SELECTION COMMISSION, and POLICE FORCE jobs.


The Indian Railways is the seventh-largest utility with around 1.4 million people working as employees. Indian Railways conducts exams for various posts every year for class 10th graduates. Positions under Group C and Group D staff are offered by the Indian Railways for 10th pass candidates including posts of manual and technical work like act apprentice, welder, fitter, carpenter, maintainers, technician, and others.


The basic eligibility criteria to be eligible for jobs in Indian Railway is that the candidate must have cleared class 10th. The Railway Recruitment Board releases vacancies for various job positions, the candidates should check the eligibility criteria before applying. Some of the Indian Railways posts that are offered for students may also require a technical training certification or ITI to be considered for employment in railways.


The Railway Recruitment Board conducts an entrance test before recruiting students. Generally, the candidates are asked question-related to Maths, English, General knowledge, and Current affairs. Questions are asked on the topics that are up to the level of class 10th.

The Defence sector comprises of the Indian Navy, Indian Army, and Indian Airforce. All three branches offer entry-level jobs for candidates who have passed class 10th. These positions may include multi-tasking staff, mate tradesmen, washerman, painters, mechanics, welders, tailors, cooks, electricians, etc.


The basic eligibility is that the candidate should have passed class 1oth. Eligibility criteria also depend upon the position and level of job the candidate is seeking. Some posts may demand special training like ITI, Diploma, or National Apprenticeship Certificates.


Candidates are usually selected based on the marks they score in class 10th. For the post of some levels, the authorities might also conduct a specific exam to test the skills and knowledge of the candidate for the post.

Banking is one of the most important sectors that provides several excellent job opportunities. The noticeable expanding network and exponential growth prospects of both public sector and personal sector banks, the roles in banking don’t seem to be only great with relevance lucrative salary packages but also in terms of the perks and promotional benefits related to it. Banks hire candidates who have cleared class 10th for filing certain low-ranking positions like the multipurpose staff and a few other similar posts. All of those posts are generic and that they have basic job responsibilities which are needed to be fulfilled.


The basic eligibility criteria are that the candidate should have passed class 10th from a recognized board and must have basic knowledge of all subjects up to the level of class 10th.

The candidates are usually selected based on the percentage marks they have scored in the qualifying exam. After they are selected they are given proper training according to their work role.


The Staff Selection Commission is a recruitment agency of the Central Government of India. The SSC CHSL is conducted every year to hire candidates for entry-level positions as multi-tasking staff, low division clerks, and data entry operators.

The candidate must have passed class 10th and should have basic knowledge of all subjects taught up to class 10th. The candidate is selected according to their percentage marks scored in the 10th class examination. SSC sets a certain percentage as a minimum percentage for the students to qualify, all those below the cut off percentage are not selected.


For some posts, SSC conducts an entrance exam. The questions covered are mostly from the course of class 10th including General knowledge and Current affairs. Few posts are filled based on their class 10th merit without any entrance exam.

The Indian Police Force offers various opportunities for high school graduates by offering some low-rank positions like head constables, senior police constable, constables, drivers, constable drivers, firemen, and special auxiliary police officers.


The candidate must have passed in all subjects of class 10th from a recognized board, besides that the candidate is also required to meet the physical standards for being selected.

The marks obtained in class 10th play a major role in being selected for the posts. The candidate is expected to be fluent in English or regional language. After getting selected they are given proper training as required for their posts.
