BEST COMMERCE COLLEGES – UNIVERSITY OF DELHI
Commerce is the lifeline of a business. It is the link between a buyer and a seller and all activities related to the exchange of goods and services for money or in kind, whether on a large scale or small scale, are a part of commerce. If you feel attracted to business and selling something then commerce is undoubtedly the best choice for you. Commerce streams have recently attained some great attention and almost three of every five students are either from a commerce background or are going to opt for it. There are varieties of courses in the commerce field to choose from. When talking about universities and colleges; we can never miss out on The University of Delhi. The University of Delhi consists of 75 colleges, offering multiple courses in all disciplines. In this article, I am going to reduce your work but shortlisting some of the best commerce colleges from Delhi University.
1. SHRI RAM COLLEGE OF COMMERCE (SRCC)
SRCC is without any question the best college for commerce; not only in Delhi University but all over India. This accounts for the highest cut-off list released every year. The college is a part of the north campus and provides all kinds of courses in the field of commerce like – B.Com, B.Com Honours, Economics Honours, BBA, BCA, and many more. Admission in most of the courses is through a merit-based system and for some courses like Business economics and BBA; you have to appear for entrance exams conducted by the University of Delhi. The fee for all the courses is quite low as this college is affiliated with DU (ranging from 8k to 20k per year). Other than the best faculty; the college is also known for its cultural and annual events. The faculty members of SRCC are known to have written many books and readings that are taught in other colleges as well.
2. LADY SHRI RAM COLLEGE (LSR)
LSR is the best college on the south campus of DU. It is only Girls College and has one of the best faculty and infrastructure. This college provides various courses in all the disciplines which also include some popular commerce courses like B.Com, BBA, BCA, Economics Honours, Business economics, and many more. The admission is again merit-based. But for some courses like BELED, Business economics, etc; entrance exam is to be cleared. The fee for various courses ranges from 5k to 20k. The college has a very good placement record as well.
3. HANSRAJ COLLEGE
Hansraj College is one of the finest colleges on the north campus of Delhi University. This college is most popularly known as “Shahrukh Khan vala college”, as he is one of the most notable alumni of the college. The college is mainly considered for science courses but it also has a very good faculty for commerce and art department. Admission to most of the courses is through the merit-based system and for few courses like BBA; Business economics admission is through an entrance exam conducted by the University of Delhi. The fee structure is similar to every other college affiliated with the University of Delhi (i.e. ranges from 7k to 20 k for different courses and programs).
4. HINDU COLLEGE
Hindu College is considered one of the oldest colleges in Delhi. Hindu college offers various UG, PG, and certificate programs in multiple disciplines. Admission to UG courses is based on merit as per the Cut Off percentage decided by Delhi University. For PG admissions candidates have to appear for the DUET entrance exam, conducted by the Delhi University. The fee in this college ranges from 15k to 21k for different programs.
5. SRI VENKATESWARA COLLEGE
Popularly known as Venky college, this college is one of the oldest and best colleges on the south campus of Delhi University. The most popular course of this college is B.A (Hons.) Economics. But college also provides around 45 courses across 6 streams. The placement records are also very good and most of the students receive good packages. The fee charged is quite nominal (from around 8k to 20k) varying from program to program.
6. JESUS AND MARY COLLEGE (JMC)
JMC college is affiliated with the University of Delhi but is also under semi-private ownership. It is an only girls’ college and is very popular for its infrastructure. Some of the popular courses offered by Jesus and Mary College include B.Com, B.Com (Hons.), BA (Hons), BA, B.Voc, BElEd, and B.Sc. (Hons.) courses at the UG level and MA course at the PG level. The college also owns some of the best faculty The college along with the degree of the University of Delhi; issue its personal degree with the college name as well. The fee is a little more than other completely public colleges (around 30k to 50k) but the admission procedure remains the same (merit-based). But along with the main application at DU’s official website, you need to fill a separate application for JMC as well.

When looking for an affordable and good university, the University of Delhi is everything you want. The university has a number of colleges specialized in some or the other courses at a fee of less than half as compared to private universities.
