Bhartiya Sanskriti: The Painted Legacy – A Founder’s Day to Remember at LLDIMS

It wasn’t just another day on Lingaya’s Lalita Devi Institute of Management & Sciences (LLDIMS) campus. Something felt different when you walked into the college premises that morning. The air was alive—with colour, with culture, with memory. It was Founder’s Day, and the theme said it all: “Bhartiya Sanskriti: The Painted Legacy.”

Held in association with the Embassy of Nepal, this wasn’t your typical college function. It was a profoundly thoughtful, artistically rich celebration of heritage—and of the man who dreamt it all into being: Late Prof. G.V.K. Sinha, founder of the Lingaya’s Group. As students, faculty, and guests gathered to pay tribute, there was a shared sense of pride and emotion.

Honouring a Visionary

The day began with a heartfelt tribute to Prof. Sinha. He wasn’t just remembered as an academic founder—he was remembered as a visionary, someone who dared to see education as more than degrees and deadlines. He believed in creating spaces that nurtured ideas, art, and individuals, and this Founder’s Day felt like a living expression of that vision.

Prof. Dr Meera, Head of Applied Art at the College of Art, Delhi, graced the inauguration. Her presence added an authentic artistic spirit to the event. Alongside her were Chairman Dr. Prof. Picheshwar Gadde, Mrs Sunita Gadde, Ms Amita Kumar, and Prof. Dr. Pranav Mishra, Director of LLDIMS—all of whom stood witness to the cultural spectacle that was about to unfold.

Where Tradition Meets Creativity

Once the exhibition opened, the campus became a walk-through of Indian art history. It was beautiful, bold, and moving. Warli paintings danced in white lines on earthy backgrounds. Madhubani art told age-old stories in vivid hues. Lippon art, Mandala drawings, and block prints brought texture, rhythm, and geometry. These weren’t just decorative—they carried the soul of Indian folk expression.

But what made it even more meaningful was how students were at the centre. Their hands, research, and imagination made the show come alive.

And then there was the modern twist. The exhibition didn’t stop at traditional visuals. It embraced visual communication and media—from photography, newspapers, magazines, and poster designs to radio shows, podcasts, documentary screenings, blogs, and more. It felt like a full circle: culture, captured in its timelessness and told through today’s tools.

When Borders Blur

The involvement of the Embassy of Nepal added depth and dignity to the occasion. It was more than a diplomatic nod—it was a gentle reminder that culture doesn’t stop at political boundaries. India and Nepal share centuries of artistic and spiritual resonance. This collaboration gave the event a broader context and a beautiful sense of belonging beyond borders.

A Day of Firsts

This Founder’s Day wasn’t just about looking back—it was also about moving forward.

The day marked the inauguration of the Indian Knowledge Centre—a new academic initiative to support research, learning, and traditional knowledge systems. It was a decisive step, blending heritage with innovation. As if that wasn’t enough, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication launched its newsletter and magazine, which was created entirely by students. Seeing them proudly hand over their work to the Chief Guest was a heartwarming sight that said, “We’re ready to take the mic.”

The Soul of the Campus

LLDIMS is quietly nestled on Mandi Road near the Chattarpur Metro Station for those who’ve never visited. It’s a campus that feels intimate yet dynamic. There’s a hum here—not loud, but steady. The place houses everything a student might need: a seminar hall, computer and video labs, a gym, a music and dance room, and, of course, the Prashant Kumar Memorial Library—named after the esteemed journalist.

The library, students often say, isn’t just about books—it’s a breathing space. A place where thoughts stretch out, and curiosity is welcome. And now, with plans for full digital automation, it’s ready to grow even further.

More Than Just an Event

What stood out most about this Founder’s Day was how grounded it felt. There was no over-the-top grandeur, no empty formality, justa  genuine celebration of culture, community, and creativity. It reminded everyone why education matters—not just for jobs but for keeping heritage alive, building identity, and passing something beautiful on to the next generation.

As the sun dipped and the artworks began to be gently taken down, the message lingered: Bhartiya Sanskriti isn’t a relic. It’s a living, breathing legacy. And at LLDIMS, it’s in safe hands.
