A film is a common source of entertainment offered to the general public at a feasible price. A movie Directed and Written by Gauri Shinde, released in 2016 featuring Alia Bhatt as lead with Shah Rukh Khan. This movie shows how a healthy person can also be disturbed mentally. And in addition, shows that it is rational to seek the help of a psychologist when in need. Various factors affect our lives, and this movie shows how past events can influence the personality of a human being. The lead character in this movie fights insomnia by taking the help of her psychologist. The lead in this movie feared abandonment due to past events that took place in her very young age. This movie gave some helpful tips in a very simplified manner. This movie is in the Hindi language with a total duration of 150 minutes.
Anjaana Anjaani
Movie Directed by Siddharth Anand, released in 2010 featuring Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor as leads. This movie focuses on two strangers trying to commit suicide repeatedly and failing every time. The female character was struggling with depression as she caught her fiance cheating on her, and the male character was broke and needed 12 million dollars. The characters eventually fell in love with each other and realizing that greater things are waiting for them in life and that suicide is not the solution. This movie is in the Hindi language and with a total duration of 147 minutes.
15 Park Avenue
A movie Directed and Written by Aparna Sen, released in 2005 featuring Shabana Azmi and Konkona Sen Sharma. This National Film Award-winning movie focuses on a patient with schizophrenia. With schizophrenia, the character imagines a family she has of herself. She imagines them living in 15 Park Avenue. She thinks that the ones taking care of her are holding here against her will away from her family. The character showed symptoms of schizophrenia at her very young age. Though no one took care of her until a traumatic experience she had in her 20’s. This movie is in the English language with a total duration of 116 minutes. This movie is one of the most well-made movies in the set of movies which include mental disorders.
Tamasha
A movie Directed and Written by Imtiaz Ali, released in 2015 featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. This movie, with mixed reviews from critics, covers a story of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder or generally known as a borderline personality disorder. In this disorder, the patient is emotionally unstable and has difficulty maintaining relationships. This disorder is ignored by most of the people, hence making the lives harder for those suffering from it. As a result, a feeling of abandonment, emptiness, and self-harm are seen in patients if not taken care of properly. It is one of the common disorders generally neglected as stress or temporary sadness. This movie is in the Hindi language with a total duration of 139 minutes.
Karthik Calling Karthik
A movie Directed and Written by Vijay Lalwani, released in 2010 featuring Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone. This psychological thriller shows how the character suffered from schizophrenia and how due to lack of awareness, he was never diagnosed with it until a doctor revealed when he was in his 20’s. He suffered from the disease since he was a teenager. The character tries to commit suicide twice, and due to fear of getting murdered changed his place of living. A real thriller of its kind, showing how a lack of awareness can worsen someone’s life. This movie is in the Hindi language and with a total duration of 135 minutes.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa
Movie Directed by Priyadarshan, released in 2007 featuring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan as leads. This comedy-horror-psychological thriller concentrates on Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). In this disorder, it affects the identity of the person and makes them think they are someone else. This movie very subtly shows how a healthy person could be affected by this disorder. With the help of comedy and horror, the directer very smoothly explained how the dysfunction took place due to the small day to day life incidents. This movie is in the Hindi language with a total duration of 154 minutes.
