Eligibility Criteria
All candidates who are Indian nationals and belong to the Person of Indian Origin (PIO) or Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) category are eligible for IISER admissions 2023. However, admissions at IISER are done through three different channels mentioned below.
IISER Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria under State and Central Boards (SCB) Channel
All candidates who have cleared Class 12 exams in Science stream in 2021/ 2023 fulfil IISER entrance exam 2023 eligibility criteria. However, candidates should also score marks (in their respective boards) equal to or above the cutoff percentage as stipulated by IISER (mentioned in the table below) in order to meet IISER entrance exam eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Criteria For Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) Students
In view of the clarification from The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) that the Class 12 Annual Regular Examination conducted by JKBOSE in December 2022 in the case of candidates of Kashmir division/Winter Zones areas of Jammu division and U.T. of Ladakh is equivalent to the Class 12 Annual Regular Examination conducted by JKBOSE in the months of March-April 2023 in the case of candidates of Summer Zone areas of Jammu division, the following has been decided:
- The students of Kashmir division/Winter Zones areas of Jammu division and U.T. of Ladakh who took the class 12 Annual regular Examination conducted by JKBOSE in December 2021 are eligible to apply to the BSMS and BS courses in the 2023 admission cycle provided they satisfy all the other eligibility criteria.
- During the application process, these students need to pick 2022 as their year of passing class 12 examination.
IISER Admissions under Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Channel
Candidates who have a valid KVPY fellowship commencing from 2022-23 academic session are eligible to apply for IISER admissions 2023. However, such candidates do not need to appear for IISER entrance exam 2023.
IISER Admissions under Joint Entrance Examination of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT–JEE) Channel
General category candidates who have secured a rank within 10,000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2023 are eligible for IISER admissions 2023. However, similar to the admission process under KVPY channel, such candidates do not need to appear for IISER entrance exam 2023.
Syllabus
IAT Exam syllabus is declared by the examination conducting in the information brochure after the application process for IISER Entrance Exam 2023 started. Questions in the IISER exam are asked from topics present in the syllabus of Class 11 and 12 books. IISER 2022 exam question paper carried questions from the sections- Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. For better preparation of the IISER exam, the candidate must review the complete IISER 2022 syllabus as questions asked will test the candidate’s analytic ability. Candidates can view the detailed IISER 2022 syllabus as released by IISER below and IISER 2023 syllabus will be provided soon after the release of the application forms and brochure on the official website.

IISERs offer admission into courses leading to BSMS Dual Degree, and BS Degree (only at IISER Bhopal) Programs.
IISER 2023 entrance examination for the academic session 2023-2024 will be conducted online/ computer-based test.
One of the major attractions at these new institutes was a guarantee of the INSPIRE-SHE award. Every student enrolled in the IISERs was eligible to receive the Rs-80,000 scholarship provided their academic performance was satisfactory, I. e. if they maintained an annual GPA of 6.0 and above on a 10-point scale. Students admitted through the KVPY channel will be eligible for scholarships
