Preparation strategy for Delhi University Joint Admission test

The time limit and speed is very critical in DU JAT exam as the selection of question and analysing them at the time of exam is very important. Just go through the whole question paper and select the maximum number of questions you can attempt in first go spend 5-10 minutes for reading the questions and for selecting them. Remember this time cut-off will go high as the selection is largely based on the JAT (85% weightage). Apart from question learning to select a question, you should also be ready to reject a question in less than 10 seconds and this very important for your exam. So you need to focus on the basics of class 11th and 12th and you should revise class 11th and 12th books for preparing as we know fast calculation can save much time, so students need to brush up all the formulas they have learnt in class 11th and 12th . You need to quickly remember all the tricks of doing percentage, ratio proportion, time- speed-distance, time & work and area volume questions they are the very important and basic part of maths you need to revise for you exams and they should be learnt on tips and more you should also work on data interpretation, which tends to be calculation heavy

Now we will come to Verbal Ability section basically consists of grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension. Still, you have a feeling that it is a vocabulary heavy section. In the next few days, boost your vocabulary as much as possible.

Other the business and general awareness is the most crucial section in exam. In fact, your performance in GK and reasoning section can make all the difference as most of the students who attempted the exam had focus more on maths and English. Although revising GK and current affairs candidates needs to go through top business news stories regularly. Apart from that, focus on General Awareness Questions and static topics.

Focus on following topics:

  • Who is Who
  • Business news
  • General science
  • Books and authors
  • Current events (whole past year)
  • Land marks of history
  • National and international organisation

While preparing for these sections, students should focus more on issues related to national and international events, world- bodies and foreign trade related information.

Logical Reasoning is comparatively more important than Quant and Data Interpretation in this examination as all the students come from a Mathematics background and are likely to do well in that section. Questions in LR range from Numerical Reasoning, Decision Making to Verbal Logic. Logical Reasoning can be practised using puzzle books and other books on reasoning. You can also prefer books like RS aggarwal’s book on reasoning.

Negative marking

Most the entrance examinations will have negative marking and everyone would suggest you to stay clear of questions that you are not sure about. But some experts are of the opinion that you answer the questions in which you are confused between or you have putted it aside because there can also be a chance of getting it right.
