The KVPY Exam (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) is a national-level scholarship program in India. It identifies and nurtures talented students pursuing Science courses. Application Process
Those candidates need to insist on a generous fellowship and contingency grant, they will apply through the online mode of entrance exam of KVPY.
- Candidates will fill out the application form online mode.
- Students will register themselves for the KVPY exam from July onwards.

Eligibility Criteria

Stream SA:
In SA, Class 11th students with a minimum of 80% marks in Science and Mathematics (70% marks in SC/ST/PWD) in Class 10th Board Examination. Such students, if selected, will start their fellowship once they have enrolled themselves in the Bachelor of Basic Science course (B.Sc./B.Math./B.S./ B. Stat. /Inter. M.Sc. /M.S.) in the academic session of 2020. , after securing at least 60% marks in aggregate in Science subjects (SC/ST/PWD 50%) in Class 12th Board Examination.
Stream SB:
Here the merits of the students admitted in the 1st year of Bachelor of Science in Basic Sciences are eligible for the scholarship examinations. Coming to subjects, applicants should have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology as compulsory subjects. Candidates in the SB stream require certain percentages, one should have 60% marks (50% for SC/ ST/ PWD) in Maths and Science in the 12th standard.
Stream SX:
Here is the Eligibility of Candidates Applying Appearing in 10+2 Intermediate from Any Recognized Board. Apply for SX stream. Coming to the subjects, the applicants must have passed Science subjects (PCB / PCM) in their qualifying examination. SX stream candidates need certain percentages, candidates must have at least 75% marks in aggregate of 12th standard (65% for SC/ ST/ PWD) in mathematics and science subjects in 10th standard.

Exam Pattern
Pattern 2023 for SA stream
- SA stream exam will be held in the morning (timing: 9:30 am to 12:30 pm).
- The exam is conducted for 3 hours.
- The test is conducted in two parts.
- Part I = 60 and then Part II = 20 questions.
- Here, in the KVPY SA stream, there is a total of 80 questions.
- It is compulsory to attempt all questions in all subjects.
- Questions are given in 2 languages, one is English and another one is Hindi.
- Negative marks are given for each wrong answer.
- In Part I, 1 mark is awarded for each correct answer, and at the same time, For one incorrect answer, they will reduce by 0.25 marks.
- In Part II, 2 marks will be deducted for each correct answer and at the same time, For one incorrect answer, they will reduce by 0.5 marks.
- The total marks of the question paper are 100 Total of 25 marks for each subject.

Pattern 2023 for SB/SX stream
- SX/SB Stream Exam will be held from 2 PM to 5 PM.
- The duration of the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna (KVPY) SB/SX streams is 3 hours.
- Question Paper 160 Marks.
- Part I consists of 80 questions and then Part II consists of 40 questions. Students have to attempt only 80 questions in total.
- Students should attempt any 3 sections from Part 1 (20*3=60 marks) and any 2 sections from Part 2 = (20 x 2 = 40).
- In Part I of the SB/SX stream, one mark will be awarded for a correct answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for a wrong answer.
- In Part II of Stream SB/ SX, two marks will be awarded for each correct answer & 0.5 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

FAQs
Yes, the candidates are advised to appear for KVPY twice- in their classes 11 and 12, to increase their chances of passing. They can also appear thrice if they pursue a science course after their 12th.
